Very good
I bought this particular transmission jack NEW not used which when I received seems to look like it has been upgraded. This jack did not look like the one on the box that it came in. Not even the parts and instruction manual matched it. This transmission jack has a very good chain to lock the transmission down, The knobs to adjust the angle are black and larger and look more durable then the one in the picture. The brackets that support the transmission are thicker. The jack lefts the transmission pretty good without going back down. I used this jack to put a 4L60E transmission in a 98 sonoma. Everything works good on it. Like I said earlier, this jack looks upgraded, do to all the problems that other people had on the earlier models before Jun 2015. I would recommend this because its affordable and the construction is and looks durable. This jack comes apart so like a car braking down and replacing parts this jack is repairable . I repaired many car jacks and usually they just need a better seal on them and they will last, as long as you take good care of them. IF you want a Torin TR4076 jack to work good buy a NEW one Not a used one.

Almost smashed my hand when cheap washer broke!
Almost smashed my hand when cheap washer broke! I was impressed with what looked like a quality product.Nice finish, good welds, easily maneuvered under the weight of a rather small transmission. Then I heard a loud pop and the transmission fell to right then stopped. My hand was on the adjuster knob and but I quickly and luckily let it go in time. When the transmission slammed to the right it stopped on the adjuster knob. The cause was a cheap 25 cent washer that broke (gave way) allowing the jack to shift the load.I then took the handle apart and replaced the washer with a quality one and for good measure replaced ALL the cheap washers. On a $200 jack you should expect a quality washer set.*** Update ***The hydraulics are faulty. the jack handle works 2-3times then has no resistance. In other words, pump the handle 2-3 times then nothing.. it just goes limp.I don't normally say this in reviews.. but this jack is absolute junk!

Great Tool for The Money
Well the jack arrived in a box that was fairly ripped to pieces (as many of the other reviews mentioned). Aside from that the jack itself was very clean and fully assembled. I was somewhat surprised at how clean it was considering I purchased one that was slightly used. I found the chain to be rather cumbersome to use so I actually chose not to use anything to secure the transmission to the jack (a little risky to do but I made sure I kept one hand on the transmission while I was jacking it up). However, if I really would have needed a way to secure the transmission to the jack, I would have used one of my ratcheting tie-down straps. Overall, the jack performed really well. However, I encountered 2 issues when using it. [Issue #1] - The jack sits a good bit higher in the front than the pictures would lead you to think. My floor jack could only raise my truck approximately 2-feet off of the ground but I would have needed it to be raised an additional 9 inches higher before I would have enough clearance to roll the jack with the transmission sitting atop of it under the truck. To get around this issue, I had to place the transmission on top of my floor jack, roll it under the truck, then roll the transmission jack under the truck, raise the floor jack to the same height as the front of the transmission jack and slide the transmission from the floor jack and onto the transmission jack (this task was a lot easier said than done!). [Issue #2] - The 2 front "swing arms" located on the black face plate, had to be removed because they were coming in contact with the cross member of the frame of the truck which prevented me from being able to push the transmission all of the way to the back of the engine. Other than the 2 issues described above, I did not encounter anything out of the ordinary. In fact, having the ability to tilt the transmission up or down in the front and rotate the entire unit clockwise or counterclockwise really made one of the more difficult installation tasks a great deal easier. This product is really meant for someone who works on cars a few times per week at most. It's a great tool for the "weekend worrier" type of mechanic. With that in mind, I think it's a great tool for the money. However, I would not recommend it for a full service transmission shop that requires a heavy-duty jack for frequent/continuous use.

Unstable for larger transmissions
The construction of this Jack is good. However, the parts are cheap and break easy.Do not recommend using for an Allison transmission or larger. This thing almost killed me. Jacked up the trans had to told 1/8" to align dowels and the damn thing broke and flopped the trans to one side and flipped the whole jack. Almost ruined a $15,000 built transmission. If you're going to use this. Take the whole pedistal apart and use nuts instead of the cheap Chinese washers it's sent with. You're literally "hanging by a thread"

Saved the day!
Bought this jack to do a clutch on a 4x4 Tacoma V6. Glad I did! Jack is great. Worked well pulling the gearbox and transfer all in one. The ability to adjust the platform worked really nicely and it held up to the weight no problem. Only thing I was not much for was the chain system to hold the gearbox in place. Just did not like the look of this. Instead I bought a small ratchet strap that had enough strength and used that. Much more secure! Jack was easy to use, move around and jack up and down even in tight spacing. Glad I bought it as could easily have been a major accident waiting to happen trying to use a regular floor jack or some such. Worth the price just for the safety and piece of mind.
