Worth it
The media could not be loaded. So we bought two shopkeeper’s bells for our German Shepherd to ring when he wants to go outside and when he wants to come back in. For indoors, I just bought a cheap 5.99 one because it was all I needed to get the job done. But I was concerned it wouldn’t be loud enough for me to hear if it was rung outside, so I shopped around and stumbled across this gem. Sure, it cost 5x as much as the other one, but you get what you pay for: this one is built better, rings louder, rings longer, and because it’s solid brass, the sound quality is much nicer than the inexpensive one and inclement weather will not cause it to rust. So all in all, I’m very satisfied with this melodic little bell.

Nice bell, but one major flaw
It's a nicely made bell, solid brass, and louder than I thought it would be. It's perfect for the front door of our small museum, and it'll let us know that someone came in. One major flaw with this bell is the way the clapper is attached. The clapper had a couple small loops of soft wire connecting it to a small bracket screwed to the top inside the bell. The loops are so soft that a gap opened up and the clapper had detached itself in transit. Rather than return this bell, I just unscrewed the bracket inside the bell, connected it with the clapper with a small keyring, and screwed the bracket into the bell. Now I am certain that the clapper will not come out when it's in use. See my pictures for details.

Old style is best style.
I’ve tried a couple electronic door chimes but they never last. Have used this for months and this has of course been 100% effective and reliable. A warning—insider than you’d expect!

Works well, great value
Works well. Make sure when istalling the weight is close to the bell. If the weight is in the center, when door opens slowly it won't ring. Bend the arch when installing to make sure the weight is close to the bell and it will ring properly.I added to all the doors going out of the house and garage since I wanted to know when someone opened the doors so the dogs won't get out.

Terrible Mounting Screws
A $25 bell (one of the more expensive ones on Amazon) should send decent brass screws. The package included 3 of the weakest aluminum screws, painted to look like brass that they could find. I drilled pilot holes and All 3 screws broke when I tried to screw them in. Please spend 5 or 10 cents more per item and send decent hardware to avoid frustration when installing the bell.
