Excellent French Doors!!!!
I am a DIY kind of guy and installing french doors was my first time. I bought the 72"x96" doors and I installed it buy myself so it's doable for folks who have doubts. Doors are heavy so if you don't lift weights then it might be a challenge moving the doors back and forth, so be careful. My entry width was 95x 73 3/4. I know it says you need at least 2inch added to it well I tested and that is indeed CORRECT lol. Luckily when I cut my walls there was an extra 2x6 side by side so I was able to take one out and I left the other one there. The additional 2inches needed is a tight fit so I recommend adding another half inch to have some wiggle room. After removing the additional siding I had an extra 2in to play with so I had to use a bunch of door jambs to fill the gap.So basically here we're my steps:1. Prepped the entry way and measured at least an additional 2 -2 1/2 in of the door width. My case 74.5 x 98.52. Put the door frames together and use the EZ hang door jamb kit from Amazon. When you install the frame and door jamb kit. Make sure you're in front of the entry instead of inside, because the door jamb kit hangs off to the side and you'll have to maneuver your way to the front side.3. Once the frame is up make sure it's flushed with the wall by screwing in the jamb hang kit to the wall.4. Measure the width and height to make sure the there's still enough space.5. I was nervous to have the door installed without securing the frame so I used 3in "wood screws" to secure the frame to the house frame. (Top/middle/bottom on both side of the frame. Use shims or spacers between the house frame and the door frame so that the frame doesn't shift. You can screw in the 3in nails near the weather stripping I forget what it's called but take the weather stripping off so you can screw it in. The weather stripping will cover up the screw later.6. Once you get the door inside make sure to shim up the door from the bottom so you have an 1/8 or 1/4in of space from the floor otherwise you'll have a door rubbing the ground.7. Make sure the door has even space all around the door. Any uneven space, that's where you can adjust the door jamb kid and use shims if needed to adjust the spacing.8. Once it's even, mark the hinges as instructed and screw hinges into the frame and door.9. Once the doors are in place, add the casing it should clip right into the frame and your wall. I used nail gun to keep it all in place.10. Use caulk to cover up any gaps.Hindsight is 20/20. But from what I know now, I probably could install it in under 2 hours.Tools I bought:1. Dremel tool with 1/4 in bit to mortarize the door latch.2. 2in hole saw bit for the door handle. You can use a regular drill for it.3. Bought a chisel set to smooth out the edges.Hope this info was helpful!

Solid doors
Doors are solid. Installation directions are not great. We did add our own trim to match the existing trim throughout house. Solid day to install and we are just DIY homeowners.

BEAUTIFUL DOORS - took a while to get here - installation difficulty to consider
PROS-These doors are GORGEOUS! Very thick, and sturdy. Doesn't feel flimsy. I purchased the 84" x 84".-It would have cost double if I had these doors custom made locally.-They hand deliver these doors. They don't use a shipping service. This pretty much guarantees that they arrive in great condition. I was blown away that they do that. I have always had damaged product when ordering from big box stores, so this is refreshing to have it custom delivered to your door.-The hinges are non-mortise, so that makes it easier to install. The hardware that came with it seems to be good quality.-The seller is quick for communication, and are very helpful.CONS-I ordered this in January, and it arrived in April. It was supposed to have had arrived 6 weeks earlier, but some complications apparently happened. So don't plan on it arriving quickly. This is likely an issue with Covid, and may not be a problem in the future.-The door is NOT MORTISED (which they do mention in the description). I'm no door expert, so I had to look that up. But that means that there are no holes for the door knobs. The hinges didn't need mortising (thank goodness). It was very scary cutting holes in the doors after you have installed it ($$$, Time, Energy... you don't want to screw it up). My guess is that since it is french doors, they don't mortise it so that it is easier to line up the hardware to meet in the middle when closed.INSTALLATION TIPSIf you haven't installed doors before, then French Doors are the king of difficulty for installing doors. I have done a handful of standard doors, and those are simple. French Doors are definitely tougher to do. And these doors are HEAVY. I had a couple local places quote installation, and they were saying it would cost $1,000 to install?!? That's crazy. So you don't save a ton, unless you install the doors yourself. Which in my case I was able to pull it off, and I am very happy.-My recommendation is to get a mortise door kit, like the "MIBRO 300681 Carbon Steel Door Lock and Deadbolt Installation Kit for Wood Doors" (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HE57KM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1).This made it easier to cut the doorknob holes. And it helped me feel a little more at ease with cutting the holes into expensive doors.-Use this door hanger installation kit: "EZ-Hang Premium Door Installation Kit - Strongest Door Installation on The Market. Includes 11 Brackets and All Screws."(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NP7N6QK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)I hate using door shims. This kit makes it night and day easier to install. And you can adjust it even after the doors are hung. I don't think I could have done french doors without this kit. I used extra hangers for these larger doors.-The outer skin of this door is a very thin white vinyl cover. Which means that you can't sand it in the middle where the doors meet. I was tempted to do it when my gap wasn't perfect. I am glad I didn't. Underneath the white vinyl coating is a soft MDF particle board material. It's about 1/4" thick of this stuff, and then it gets to the pine in the middle. So if you sand it, it will expose unpaintable MDF, not pine.-IF you need to trim the door, then trim it on the outside edges, where the hinges are. That should be common sense, but just wanted to note that. They say it is trimable, up to 3/4". Honestly, I would do the door frame so you don't have to trim it. These doors are so huge, it would be next to impossible to trim. And I would be scared that the white covering would start to fray.-The door measurements are for the doors only, and doesn't include the frame. So the doors I bought were listed as 84x84. With the frame, the door actually was 85x85. So make sure your rough opening is an inch beyond that. In my case it should have been 86x86. I made mine 85.25 x 85.25, and it was a snug fit. Harder to adjust afterward. They do mention to have the door opening 2 inches larger than what the size is listed.-Use 3 inch screws on the two inner holes of the hinges to give it a better hold to the frame. The screws that came with the hinges are only 1 1/4, which doesn't get into the frame. I used the shorter screws for the two outer holes, but used the 3inch screws for the two inner holes. This gave it much more stability.Overall I am extremely happy with the doors. It was an adventure getting it done, but totally worth it. I'd say to have it professionally installed if you haven't done basic construction before. Otherwise, it is very doable with those tips I gave. Good luck!
