Depends on what you mean by "soft". For a baby or a very small child I'd say no. The very nature of the cat being able to sit in an upright position negates that they are cuddly for a small youngster. The cats are pretty densely packed but have some give. I think too much "rough housing" with these cats would eventually destroy their ability to sit upright. I bought Catalina and Boone the black cat more or less as decorations but an older child might appreciate that quality. The bottom line is who the cat is intended for. Hope this helps.
