Q: I hope this isn't a stupid question, but if it's water soluble does that mean it'll be less adhesive after washing the clothes?

It'll be less adhesive long before you even think about washing it. This is a totally worthless fabric adhesive. It isn't meant to be permanent--"water soluble " means that it is supposed to wash out. But in my experience the adhesion wasn't even temporary. It's supposed to keep appliques on until you sew them permanently--so you don't have to use pins. It simply didn't work. Everything fell off as soon as it dried.

Q: can you sew through this without gumming up your needle

I don't know. I am using it for English Paper piecing, and not sewing through it.

Q: How long will the glue hold? I’m making a lot of hexies and it may take months before I get to hand sew them all together.

A very long time. I glued a bunch of pieces for my epp project 6 months ago and held til now perfectly when I picked the project back up.

It will not hold after washing. Considered a temporary glue, water solvable, means it washes out. This glue is prized by quilters and semester who want a temp hold until they have sewn their seam or attached a zipper or... Get Fabric Glue if you want a permanent hold, even after washing.
