Very sturdy for my busy kitchen
I'm really puzzled at the washing instructions. Cool, gentle wash, no bleach... for kitchen towels? That's nuts. I go through a lot of towels and cloths in my custom baking kitchen, and everything gets washed with bleach in warm water. Depending on how these come out of the wash, and how long they last, will determine if I buy more of them or not. They are a very nice size and look good, so I hope they hold out.Edit: After the first week of using these, I suspect the manufacturer was being overly cautious with the laundry instructions. I pre washed them as instructed, with plain soap. All seams held and there was no unusual amount of lint in the dryer. These towels then went through the intense use I give all the things in my kitchen for a week, and were laundered again. All are intact, and no more lint than expected. I think these will do well for a long time. I'd suggest using no more than the minimum amount of bleach per load, simply because that accelerates the rate of wear on anything washed that way.Edit - October 16, 2016. I'm back to order more of these towels. They have endured heavy use and laundering far better than the cheaper blue strip kind I bought earlier. The blue stripes have all been demoted to be hand towels in the basement bathroom.Edit - Sept. 03, 2017 Never did order any more of these towels. The original ones are still looking perfect and doing a good job. My towel drawers are too full to fit in one more item!

Good value for 12 cotton towels.
Unlike others here, I'm not embroidering them or making fancy things with them. We have an English cottage style house and I go through kitchen towels almost every day (I cook a lot), so I wanted an inexpensive but quality towel that was cute, but also could stand a lot of washing up and came with several in a pack. These fit the bill and I'm very happy.Kitchen towels get so gross and germ/sticky laden in our kitchen, so I throw them in the wash basket about every day. With this pack and my old towels, I definitely can get through a full week in the kitchen with some to spare. Once washed, they soften delightfully, and I like the cotton (vs the terry) as a way to sort of 'scrape' my hands clean. I also have terry cloth kitchen towels still, and those are better for absorbing spills, but for baking/cooking/wiping/drying hands, I've been very happy with this set. They will stain (what kitchen towels won't if you're actually using them?!) but I just throw them in the wash with baking soda and they come out fresh. Obviously, if you wipe of coffee or red wine, you're going to have to go the extra mile to try and get a stain out, but as this was a utilitarian purchase for me, I'm fine with it.Overall: good construction, great value for 12 towels, cute cottage/farmhouse style flour sack design, quality cotton fabric, not for big spills, fine for regular hand drying/cooking messes.

Great Towels After a Wash: Worth the Wait
When I first opened the package, there was a strange smell, possibly from the factory or the cardboard. The towels were sealed in a plastic bag with cardboard squares used to hold their shape. I also noticed colored lint from different threads, which seemed to be from other towels in the factory. Out of the 12 towels, 2 were misshapen and not cut to size, so I marked them with a small X on the tag with a ballpoint pen. At first, they seemed thin and low-quality, and I planned to use them as basic kitchen towels. After washing them right out of the packaging in warm water (instead of the cold water as the tag recommended), I was surprised by how they improved. The towels became thicker, the weave tightened, and they shrunk by about half an inch, which enhanced their quality. Even air-drying didn’t change their improved appearance and feel. Now, they look and feel like much higher-quality towels. I plan to iron them and use them as dinner napkins, while the other misshapen towels will be great for drying hands or dishes. They don’t leave any lint and absorb well. My initial 2-star rating has jumped to 5 stars after giving these towels a chance! Yay!

Wonderful, but wish they were bigger
These have been great dish towels for the kitchen. They are absorbent and I believe after having put them through the wash a couple of times, that they will be very durable. They are nice and heavy and I love the red stripe for my kitchen. I just wish that they were wider so they covered more area on big items that require drying. Other than a little too small, these are perfect.
