Damaged stitching, worked great on leather though.
At first I was really happy with this product. It turned some older leather products (jacket and boots) into very nice looking and supple feeling products again. It does darken brown leather products noticeable, but I actually liked the change. The feel was also improved and the boots and jacket looked almost new again. Both the jacket and boots were re-coated in about a year as they lightened in color and again the results were very good to excellent. I thought i had found the best leather care product ever. The problem I have experienced is that I now have multiple stitching failures on the jacket. I had one repaired only to then have several more. The stitching is failing now in multiple different points of the jacket. The boots, also have a stitching failure now. After searching for an answer, it appears that some stitching may be damaged by some neatsfoot oil compounds. This product is not pure neatsfoot oil. Spend a few minutes with Google searching for stitching issues with neatsfoot compoundsI am now trying mink oil, but it is too late for the jacket and boots. If I had some piece of leather without stitching (some belts maybe) I would use this product. Otherwise, use at your own risk.

Old-timey leather conditioner that works!
I just got this old-timey looking can of oily goodness a couple weeks ago, and upon opening it, was shocked to turn around and find every single one of my leather shoes, boots, gloves, etc., lining up to do shots. Being the generous soul that I am, I proceeded to serve up the Huberd's to the entire lot. Man, were they thirsty! One pair sucked down three shots in rapid succession and started screaming for more -- I had to shut em down. The others just quietly sipped away at whatever I gave them. Point here is all leather loves this stuff, especially if they haven't been on a good oil binge for a while. The good news is that the 'hangover' involved buttery softness, scratch removal and no suffering of my leather items. My brown leather got a bit darker, which I fully expected and actually wanted. If you don't want your items to darken, just don't use oil on them - duh. The great news? I still have tons more to use later on. I'm glad I bought this stuff and would buy it again.

Brought my grandpa's old knife sheath back to life but I had to restitch it
This oil destroys, disintegrates and dissolves stitching, sewing and needlework turning it into a stringy paste that oozes out of the holes it was sewn into.On the other hand it will turn stiff old leather cracked and dry and honestly more akin to old bark than the supple tough hide of an animal into the gleaming soft stuff it was meant to be when new. It worked perfectly on the knife sheath of my grandpa's old K-bar although I had to sew the whole thing back up afterwards.
