Awesome.
As a parent of a 14 month old I couldn't help think 'I've made it this far without it, and hundreds of parents have managed without one' but as my little girl is getting heavier and more wriggly I thought I'd try it. It is AMAZING. Once you get a good fit it really does support my back - no more pain - and really helps my posture. She loves it too and it is so useful for just popping to the shops or the bank when you don't want to take the pram, but need use of hand(s) more. It is also good when you are talking to people and are standing holding your baby for a while as it takes all the weight off your arms. Good quality, would recommend and if in doubt would say purchase. Wish I'd got one months ago!

A must have product!!!
Such a great product! It really makes a great difference when having to carry your baby and your back isn't that strong. I leave my hip seat on most of the day, as it is comfortable and whenever I have to pick up our baby it makes life so much easier. I don't agree with one of the other reviews here. I think the Velcro doesn't stick to any clothes, seems perfectly fine to me. I also can't complain about any parts of the materials that would hurt my hip bone, if you wear it high enough, around the waist how I do, then it is really comfortable. I do think it is more made for the right hip, but I only ever carry my baby on that side anyway. A great product, wish I had bought sooner! Quality reasonable for the price.

overall very happy
I love this seat; when I am using it to carry my son, I can carry him for example around school during the school run, or around a party, without feeling like my arms are falling off!It is not perfect;I probably would not use it for walking from A to B, although I know a friend who does and loves it. I think this is to do with my posture and the way I use it: I'm very slim and I carry my one year old on my front rather than my hip. Because I naturally arch my back, the seat tilts down and sons bottom slips away from my body compounding the problem. However if I hold his bottom in close, it works pretty well, and I always wish I had it with me if I forget to take it anywhere! I even find it useful for getting my sleeping four year old in from the car, otherwise I can't really manage his weight anymore! It definitely relieves shoulder strain, which is why I bought it.

Best baby gadget I have ever bought.
Everyone knows that companies are lined up to take money off naive parents, keen to do their best for their precious offspring. I don't know any parent who has not bought a baby gadget, used it once and then left it gathering dust! This is different...I bought it for my fourth baby because I picked up a slipped disc during pregnancy and as he grew-and got heavier I was finding it harder to carry him. Hippy chick is perfect. It attaches simply and quickly with Velcro (which means it fits all shapes and sizes-I am size 14 and a long way from needing to buy the extension, and my eldest child who is a very slight teenager can also wear it no problem) and then a rucksack-style clip for security. It doesn't move when you wear it-despite being worn all day around the house as well as outside for walks. Also it cleverly distributes the weight of the baby all around the body so that the child has almost no weight (the longest period I have carried my baby for so far is 2 hours and he felt no different at the end, although your arm can get a bit tired from the cuddles!! It also keeps the spine aligned, so no back ache because you have been walking around sticking your hip out to balance your baby on. I have found this SO much better than the Baby Bjorn style carrier I had for the others, but in fairness this is aimed at babies who are aged from 6 months to 3years so it is aimed at older babies.

OAP Lifesaver!!
This is an OAP lifesaver! I have used it today with a heavy 10 month year old grandson. It is amazingly easy to pop him onto and stand with him. He even stands on it (lol) and that feels OK too. You DO have to remember always to hold the baby tight - there's no support. I had tried a sling a couple of months earlier and couldn't get his legs into it and then his bottom slipped out of it, so that was a waste of money - perhaps ok for a new born for a while - but this is fantastic for the older baby and I hope to use it for a good while yet. The denim blue is very smart. I love it!

This carrier is quick and easy to put on
This carrier is quick and easy to put on, as well as quick and easy to carry my 14 month old around. However, it most definitely does not save you from back pain, and even adds in horrid pain down your legs on the side that you carry. I don't find that its supportive enough to stop you having to adjust your entire body for the weight of the baby. Plus, you obviously have to have your arm around your baby to stop them falling, so you get the added arm pain too (although much less than carrying in your arms). Overall, I'm disappointed. It's not less painful to carry with the carrier than it is to just carry in your arms. Its just the pain is in different places.

good but by no means perfect
Good idea. Am mainly using it to help lug my hefty 4month old around the house. It is certainly saving my back. HOWEVER, there are a couple of fundamental design flaws that need to be pointed out:1) fastenings seem designed so product is worn over right hip. Fine if left handed but I am sure most people prefer to wear over left hip so right hand is free for tasks. It can be twisted round and worn on left but it is annoying when getting on and off.2) the sticky part of the velcro faces in towards the body so unless you are very careful it sticks to and snags clothes.3) there isn't quite enough padding around the seat itself which is made from hard injection mould foam. I've put some toy stuffing in which seems to be helping but until then it wss bruising my hip something chronic!I'm still using the product and since there isn't really anything else like it on the market I would recommend to anyone suffering from back pain as a result of carrying a heavy child. Just be aware you are not buying a perfect product.
