Can't tell what mode it's in
I was looking for a replacement for my Sportline ThinQ pedometer which was ruined in the washing machine. That model wasn't available anymore so I bought the 310 as their web page said it could be carried in a pocket too. The 310 is thicker and I discovered that the display screen is much softer and more susceptible to being scratched by anything else it comes in contact with than my old ThinQ was. Since it has more features, there are more screens to scroll through to get to the one I want (just steps & distance please!). The text for steps and/or distance is quite legible but the text that tells you which mode/screen you are looking at is too small to read so you have to guess if you are resetting the last trip distance or the total odometer distance and the wear on the soft screen makes it more difficult. The instructions say the device is most accurate if carried in the vertical position. That may be possible if you use the included belt clip but doesn't do you much good if you want to carry it in a normal pocket. (insert frustration scream here)

Sportline 310 Qlip Any-Wear Pedometer
I have now worn this pedometer continuously for about three weeks. The controls are intuitive and it is easy to wear. I clip it on to my pants/belt when I wake up and go about my work. It is small and unobtrusive - most people think I am carrying a neat pager. I have counted paces and checked off against the step count displayed - it is more accurate than most pedometers when walking. It is also reasonably accurate while jogging, although it counts more than one step if you hit the pavement hard. It is reasonably impervious to mild horizontal shaking, but advances the step count if you jerk it vertically even without stepping. It will also advance the step count if you bob up and down on a sofa. This is not unreasonable and does not bother me. I have a goal for a certain amount of activity per day, be it walking, jogging or other. I have a step count goal per day based on a reasonable day's activity. If towards the end of any day, I am woefully short of the target, I bring the number up by jogging before dinner, or walking after dinner. So, this is ideal for me.

Seem to be easily effected by perspiration
I bought 2 of these for my wife and I to use. As others have posted, both of ours had minor inconsistencies with tracking steps and over-sensitivity, but we were not expecting perfection at this price point, and for the most part they did a very good job of giving us a general idea of how many steps we walked during the course of the day... until they just stopped working reliably. Within a few months of purchase, the quartz displays became foggy and the digits were hazy and difficult to read, a few weeks after that they just stopped being reliable, sometimes missing hours worth of steps and not tracking a step even when shaken in any direction. I replaced the battery several times on each and this seemed to only give a couple of additional weeks of semi-reliable functionality, but nothing cleared up the haziness of the display. It seems like they might be susceptible to damage from mild perspiration, i.e. what might gather in your pocket from a brisk walk... which is a feature it is reasonable to expect from a manufacturer of "sports" products. Given the utter failure of 2 of these devices after a few months, I recommend that you look elsewhere. If you have a smartphone, there are great apps out there that do this kind of stuff now. Save your money AND have one less gadget to carry around.

Little disappointed
Pretty disappointed in this pedometer. Frankly the build quality is kinda cheap and the buttons are hard to push. Worst of all, the step counts just don't seem accurate unless the angles are exactly right. Forget about setting and forgetting this thing. Definitely worth spending more money on a solid pedometer.

Love it!
Had to replace my old one, it quit after about two years but it was a good pedormeter until then. I especially like that I can put it just about anywhere on me and it counts my steps. That's why I ordered another one and then one for my husband

I bought this pedometer because I have another sportline one prior and loved it. This one is very difficult to program and the writing for each cycle (miles, steps & duration) were so small I was unable to read them. I like to wear it on my shoe and it stopped working after two weeks, I may have got water on it when I was watering my plants but, I was still disappointed.

Useless
Don't buy this pedometer. It would be a waste of money. I have an older Sportline which I like very much, but this one fails in almost every respect. The font size on the screen for "steps", "calories"' etc is so small that they are unreadable without a magnifying glass. The embossed print on the buttons is illegible as well. The buttons themselves are hard to press. In addition, the pedometer could not reset the steps, etc each morning. I had to return this piece of junk. Guess you get what you pay for.

I love this pedometer
I love this pedometer. Very accurate but you need to read programming instructions to get best results. I have bought several of these counters over the years. I generally walk 7.5-10.5 miles a day (except Sundays I take off). They last a long time and the reason I have had to buy a number of them has been stupid stuff like washing them.
