Highly Recommend
Updated to 5-Star rating (12/09/2018): It’s been over a year and this filter is working great! Checked this in May 2018 and again in November 2018 after my initial review and it was working great, no sign of the effluent clogging the top of the outlet tee. Cleaned as easily as before. The bristles are in great shape and the stainless steel wire core is showing no signs of corrosion. I now feel comfortable enough to go six months between checks/cleanings. I would recommend waiting to install this immediately after a system pump. I believe the scum layer caused the initial clogging I noticed in the beginning. Wait for a few days for your tank to fill to the normal level, then insert the filter. Highly recommend this product.Purchased and installed beginning of November 2017. I’ve been very nervous over the last four months. Dug the access cover up today (02/25/2018) to see how it was working. I live in the northeast and, luckily, we’ve had a mild winter and the ground is not frozen solid. The filter was nearly clogged, so it’s a good thing I decided to check. What was most alarming was the sludge caked in the bristles at the top of the outlet tee. The filter cleaned up easily with a spray nozzle on the garden hose. I will check it again in a month and will update the review then. Bottom line: it seems to work okay, but should be checked frequently and cleaned if necessary.

Time will Tell
Four stars only because filter will need to be in use for a few months to determine its effectiveness.Product appears to be good quality and I researched the brand beforehand. My septic contractor recommended them as well. Fit was right on the money for a 4inch pipe. Will be a few months before I know if it filters better than my last 3 filter attempts. Only negative is that bristles are bound together by braided wire which extends about 4 inches beyond top. Would be nice if there was a loop or handle here to make cleaning extraction and insertion easier. If it does clog, it will be below skim layer in tank and probably impossible to see as well despite the bright yellow color.

Good product
This filter was recommended to me and it has been working well. The only thing I recommend is to clean it every 6 to 8 months and change it out every 2 to 3 years.

It helps keep my drainfield clean
I've had it installed for a year. I pull it out and hose it off as needed. Everyones schedule for cleaning will be different depending on how many people are using items contributing to the septic tank contents. In my case it is filtering affluent with occasional small amounts of partial toilet paper and raw sewage gettting trapped (preventing the trapped particles from entering the drainfield) from 4 people contributing. After occasional cleaning it looks as good as it did when I purchased it a year ago. No deterioration of the plastic bristles yet. Fair price for the time it has lasted so far with more use still available and it gives great reassurance knowing that it is keeping items from going out into the drainfield which can wreak havoc.

Useful
If you want some insurance for protection of your drain field, you will want to install this filter. Quick and easy to install in the outfall tee in the septic tank.

Septic filter that refuses to plug up!!
Great product, used to pull the old plastic mesh filter once a month to clean or it would plug up. This one I still pull every 3 months or so to clean but I don't think it will ever stop flow like the old one did a few times. Very happy with this purchase.

difficult to clean.
This product does filter but is difficult to keep clean. The Polylock Zabel filter is much easier to maintain.
