It does the job !
Now we have two 5 month old kittens and we clean every 3 days (removing the solids) but we do keep the same litter for about two weeks and just add baking soda and more litter as we remove solids. So far we are very happy, it does let you know when it gets stuck and it’s easy to reboot , all in all it does help and makes life easier.

Bad in odor control
The litter box starts to smell bad after about four days. You have to remove the solid waste daily, which defeats the purpose of having an automatic litter box

Item I received was not working properly
I tried using this automatic litter box but the sensors were not working, I had to manually press the button to make the litter box move and clean after the cats. It cannot detect if a cat has used it. Maybe the one I got was just defective, but I was not happy for the amount I paid.

Best Value for Self-Cleaning Litter Box
Spent some time browsing other options and sticker shock got me, until I came across this beauty. An excellent choice for your first self-cleaning litterbox. Minimal assembly required, easy to understand instructions and it simply works right out of the box. Sensors detect when Mr./Mrs. Meow exits after making a deposit, then slowly and quietly rakes the package into the front tray. This thing is (for) the cat's a$$. Clumping litter not recommended for this model, use silica litter. Barely any odor detected! Comes with 1x cardboard disposable tray and 1x bag of silica litter.

Worth the jump if you can afford
From other reviews I’ve noticed people commenting on a few things, so here’s my take on those issues.Price - yup, definitely more expensive to run than traditional litterScent - smell freeeeeeeee, right until the last few poops. Then just as smelly as normal litter, but 95% of the time smell free and if I didn’t want the 5% I could change the tray earlierWalking on balls - yup, think tiny Lego, they’re annoying, but just as annoying as regular litterTimeline - my two guys are going through it faster than the ads claim, but I do not care! This litter is ridiculously easy to use, I never have to touch cat litter or wash the bottom, super clean and sooooooo much better for smell. I am obsessed with it and it’s worth the high price point for what I am getting.

2 Cats and Thumbs Up. Better than Litter Robot
I've been using this auto litter box for 2 weeks with 2 cats, and so far I am quite pleased. I have used the very expensive Litter Robot for about 5 years. I bought the newer Litter Robot Air 3 last year and it was nothing but a headache with its spinning ball constantly getting jammed. At $499, I was pretty unhappy that it was causing hassles. Worse yet, because of the jamming, 1 cat began pooping on the floor because the ball was upturned and she couldn't enter. I began looking for a non-spinning auto litter box for my 2 female cats quickly.2 weeks in and the cats (ages 5 and 6) both adapted to the crystal litter fairly quickly with no real issue. 1 cat was a little unhappy with the feeling of the crystals underfoot, but I provided no other alternative so she had no choice than to use it. I did sprinkle a few tablespons of the old litter on top of the crystals. What I read in the reviews and agree with is letting the poop/pee sit for 25 mins before raking. My box sits in the garage which the cats access via a cat door. Amazingly the crystals make the urine dry up quickly when left the recommended 25 mins before raking. The poop also dessicates to dry. No smell after 2 weeks with 2 cats AT ALL. The Litter Robot stunk to holy hell inside the ball with a heavy ammonia smell. I did not buy the lid cover for this ScoopFree unit for that very reason. I believe my cats prefer an open litter box.I am hopeful I will get several years of usage from this ScoopFree litter box. And its 2/3 cheaper than the Litter Robot! As per the directions, it appears I will be on target for the throw away tray to last 25 days as stated. My cats are not heavy with urination. i have not felt the need to buy one of the Forever Trays. IF i can get close to 1 month on a toss away tray, I prefer this convenience. Amazon offers a 3-pack for under $50, so i am ok with that. Easier to deal with than lugging clump litter. So far so good.
