K&N Filter - Easy installation / Great Sound
I have a 2013 Dodge Durango with the 3.6L. I was looking for a bit more power and the acclaimed MPG increase was attractive. I can tell anyone that I do feel more power. How much? I have no idea how to quantify it, as I'm not going to put it on a dyno to find out. There is definitely a significant change in the sound of the engine under moderate acceleration. There is definitely a 'growl' to it now. My three daughters, who are NOT 'car people', noticed the difference. My wife was gone the week that I did it. She's like her daughters when it comes to cars, and she even noticed the difference when I picked her up. But, I don't seem to notice any increased sound when I'm at cruising speed. Only noticeable during acceleration.I was able to change out the stock intake to this one in about two hours. The brochure claims that it should take less, and for someone with a little more mechanical prowess than I, it should. If I did it again, it would take about 1 hour. You need a few very simple tools - razor, screwdriver and ratchet or wrench. The instructions are done very well, and show you what to do at each step with photos. The one concern about the fit that I had was an A/C condenser line. I had no problems, it fit right around it.I'm looking forward to never buying another air filter, and hoping for the 1 MPG advertised increase!

Overall great with a few installation gotchas
Install took about about 2 hours for me, but i took my time and I hardly have any experience working on cars (most involved i've done was replace a thermostat). I immediately noticed a slight improvement in throttle response and gas mileage (but this could also be due to my old air filter was VERY dirty). It sounds nice and loud, but quiet when you need it to.There were a few problem areas during the installation for me.1. On step 19 of the installation instructions that it came with:"Install the provided ¼ npt vent fitting into the K&N® intake tube #27447 as shown. NOTE: Plastic NPT fittings are easy to cross thread. Install the vent fitting “hand” tight, then turn it two complete turns with a wrench."DO NOT perform the extra two complete turns with a wrench, its made out of plastic and it ended up breaking inside of the tube. I had to do an EZ out extraction to get the plastic out from the fitting that was stuck in the tube and overall could have been avoided with better instructions. ONLY hand tighten it. However, K&N Tech support is EXCELLENT and express shipped me another fitting.2. You have to cut the crank case vent tube that attaches to the part from above, I found this difficult (you have to press down HARD wiggling with a box cutter). While doing this, the tube it just popped off the from the back of the engine and I cant see back there so I have no idea if i put it back in all the way (I just kind of felt a hole and hope I plugged it back to the right one)3. I dont like how the intake rests on the air conditioning? small metal tube, seems like its forcefully pushed down in an unnatural way.4. There are a couple of wire harnesses that are zip-tied to the OEM intake that you have to take off, and you can't reattach it to the intake. I ended up using a zip tie it came with to hunker it down to some other wiring that was around it.5. The engine cover does not fit back properly with the new intake, the intake tube kind of lifts it up slightly and looks crooked, however more of a cosmetic issue.6. The air temperature sensor cord was a little short and had to forcefully pull it. Now have a P0113 code and hoping a reset will clear it, or i might have damaged the cable and/or sensor :( Update: turned out the wiring was backwards and no more codes!Overall, great intake if you can install it without any issues.

Real Sound and noticable performance improvement!!
OH MAN!! It looks like plastic in the pictures, but is in fact aluminum TIG welded tubing! Easy Install, followed by AMAZING sound driving, this intake is not for the faint of heart! At full throttle it is QUITE LOUD!! And sounds amazing!! Mileage is yet to be seen, but may be hard to verify as it sounds so good when driven hard!! Well thought out mounts and great instructions.Performance is clearly up, not just a placebo effect of the greatly increased sound, I can feel my foot not as far on the throttle for the same speeds I usually drive, so there is more power at cruise. BONUS- it sounds NO different at cruising speeds in town or on the highway, below 75mph. after 75 it has a very slight growl, that grows as speed increases, but is easily drowned out by the radio at normal volumes, until WELL above legal speed limits! Sounds andf feels amazing.

Cheap parts!!!!!
They use cheap parts,I really wanted this product. Installation took about 4 hrs non stop. Then you get to the part were you attach the part that connects to the rubber hose. The first time I thought I was being careless then I had Amazon send me another one. I took my time and was very careful the part that attaches to the pipe the hose is made out of plastic and when you go to tighten it all the way it snaps off!!!!! Everything else is made of good quality but this one part. It should be made of aluminum or metal.Very disappointed I really wanted this plus all the wasted man hours. I went on and ordered the Mopar one and hopefully it's better.

2012 DODGE DURANGO SXT
So I purchased this item for three reasons, to improve my horsepower, improve my gas mileage, and to have that wonderful growling sound like my truck use to have. As of right now she growls a little more pending the RPM's which makes my Durango sound a little more manly. However, i'm not too sure about the gas and horsepower yet. I will write a later review to let you know the status of that. But the sound of my engine has improved.
