Ikea Hemnes Desk, Black-brown

Received wrong color in grey, sent several emails asking if I reorder will I get the correct color in black-brown. Have not received a response yet from Ideaideals!! Pls respond!

We were really pleased with this desk. Yes, it had to be assembled, but it was done pretty easily. The desk is beautiful and solid. I'd buy it again, and in fact have been looking at other Hemnes items.

I own this desk which I purchased directly from IKEA. I absolutely love the desk (4 star rating there) but don't be ripped off by re-sellers. This desk, without hutch (as shown in this listing) retails at IKEA for $299. With the hutch it's $449. It can be ordered off their website and delivered to you. I am moving near Oklahoma City and the nearest IKEA store is in Dallas, TX area about 3 hours away. For a complete bedroom set, it was $49 to deliver to my door.As far as the desk itself goes, the cable shelf under it is handy. There is plenty of work space available. I have 2, 24" monitors on mine and have plenty of room. The drawers are adequate enough if you don't need a lot. It has a set up for file folders/hanging files, but I don't care for it because it is set up side to side instead of front to back (the drawers are not wide enough for front to back). The wood on the side panels is thin so handle with care. Probably half the thickness of a regular sheet of plywood. I accidentally cracked mine when I was taking it out of the box but it was a clean crack so it doesn't show. The cabinet on the left is best suited for a computer, however, it does come with a shelf that can be used. As with the drawers, it is not a very wide opening so depending on what you want to store in it, it could require some maneuvering to get it in and out of there. Both drawers and the cabinet door have non-slam mechanisms so they close quietly.
