HaywardW32025ADC PoolVac XL Pool Vacuum (Automatic Pool Cleaner)

Our "old" Hayward pool vac stopped working after about 5 years! Unable to figure out what when wrong, pool company of no help. So, bought a new one because they seem to work just great for years! Much easier than using a hand vac to clean a deep pool

This pool vac was recommended by our pool company after our old one gave out. It started up immediately and has worked well since, even through our wet and windy winter. We didn't shop around once we had the recommendation because our pool company has never steered us wrong.

I have had an inground gunite pool for over thirty years. I have had several pool cleaners during that time. Each one had its pros and cons. My most recent cleaner was a Barracuda, which worked well for several years. However, recently it would only stay in the deep end. I replaced all the hoses, but the problem persisted. I decided to try this Hayward PoolVac XL. The setup was easy and I had it up and running in about 30 minutes. It circles the entire pool which is what I needed. On the downside, this vac does not climb the walls very well - goes up about a third of the way and drops back down. Another concern is I noticed that if this cleaner goes directly into the lowest pool stem, it stays stuck there for a few minutes before maneuvering away. Overall I'm satisficed with my purchase but only time will tell how this Hayward cleaner performs. UPDATE- I increased the pressure using the supplied pressure gauge to just about the maximum setting and now the unit climbs the walls a lot better. It still gets stuck at the lowest pool step but not for very long. I am very happy that it covers my entire pool and not just the deep end like my previous cleaner. UPDATE: After a recent storm, I noticed the Pool Vac was not working. Upon inspection, the unit was clogged up with leaves and debris. After clearing it out it still would not work. I took the unit apart to find that the four (black) bearings were damaged/missing. I'm having great difficulty determining the part number and proper installation. My Vac is just three months old so its quite disappointing to have it break down in such a short time.

Stopped working at around 6 months -- took into authorized repair shop. Now on my third return to fix vacuum because shop can't properly test that its fixed. Will update when I hear more but looks like $400 for this vacuum that needs to be replaced after 6 months.Update, month 8. Vacuum in shop for 2 months essentially. The shop repaired one part, didn't work, I brought back, repaired another part, didn't work, I brought back. Third repair, they told me they replaced the gear box and this time that worked. The vacuum has been out of commission for over 2 months while I waited for the shop to get parts for repair. Basically the warranty is good for getting a "free" repair during the warranty period, whether the repair works or not, just keep bringing it back until they either get it working or you run out of the 1 year warranty period. Its many hours out of my time to get this fixed. That's a lot to ask for a $400 plastic vacuum. I expected at least a few good years out of it.Third repair didn't last either. The vacuum moved sluggishly for a few hours then stopped moving at all. Again. Vacuum has been out of commission for 3 months at this point. Seeking refund from Hayward through warranty claim case.
