The sheen of this product is moderately flat once it dries. I definitely wouldn't call it a matte sheen, but it's not super shiny.

Q: is it good for real thivk hair

Thick hair, thick curly hair. The high viscosity formula tacks the hair in place yet it’s still more flexible than American crew firm hold when dry. It rinses out with water as a plus

There is no real scent to the gel. Very faint if any.
