This was a replacement
My first system was the victim of a surge during a terrible storm. It was a fortunate loss, though, because this one is more powerful and has adjustable bass. I can feel the bass travel through the floor and into my legs.

Best speakers I have ever heard
I noticed since I purchased these four years ago, this product link price has gone from $200 to $600 then back to $200. My review is for the product at $200, what I paid for it, and what it still sells for.I have spent $1000 on car stereo systems. I have used the 2-piece Bose computer speakers. I have also used old models of Logitech speakers. The sound quality of these z-2300 speakers is simply amazing and blows everything out of the water hands down. With the Bose 2-piece computer speakers there is no woofer so it is completely lacking deep sounds.. something you NEED if you are a computer gamer because it helps immersing you in the game. The woofer on the z-2300 is much bigger than I expected, and also much louder, considering it is only 200watts, it feels more like 500, maybe because with a computer sound system you are placing the woofer right at your feet. You can really FEEL it, a good marker of the quality of base, and it doesn't distort (no rattling, no crackling or distortion). I didn't even turn it up all the way because I thought it would be too loud. These are the kind of speakers that if you play them late at night cranked up your neighbor will hear. There is a remote you can place on your desk that allows you to turn the base and sound up or down to your liking which is very cool. These are high quality speakers. You definitely get what you pay for and then some. Some reviews I read from the pros said these are the only 2.1 speakers to buy. They are correct. One negative thing a lot of the reviewers said about these speakers is the left and right speakers are locked in an upward facing position. I guess they didn't think of putting the speakers on their side!Anyway these speakers are perfect, they gave me everything I expected and then some. They are the lowest priced THX certified speakers too.BUY THESE SPEAKERS! =)Edit: 2.5 years later, these speakers are like new. I have use them every single day for hours on end. They have been through about 3 moves, 2 computer towers, and have operated in temperatures above 110 degrees. Money well spent. Most electronics, especially speakers, haven't lasted this long for me. The coorded remote still works, and has never had any mechanical issue. The coorded remote is a feature every speaker should have, I use it much more than my desktop volume control. Not sure what else there is to say. If these ever went bad, at this point I would simply turn around and buy their newest model and be happy.Edit: 4 years later, these speakers are still like new. I still use them. I also recently got a high end Sennheiser HD 595 headset for $150. The Sennheiser headsets are superior sound, but, they are flimsier, they are only for a single user obviously, and they do not produce an impact with bass. But you can hear sounds that the Logitech speakers don't even register because the diaphragm is much more sensitive, especially high notes and softer notes. But that is the case for pretty much all desktop speakers vs high end headphone comparison so you definitely can't detract them for that, especially at this price point. Four years later, I have no idea if Logitech has updated this model or not, or if their main competition, Razer or Bose, have come up with something more affordable than when I was in the market, but when I was looking at headphones, if you buy Razer or Bose, you are definitely paying a lot for a name brand sticker that is over hyped, and most pro-reviewers will agree.

Design flaws with control pod
Was great when I got it, but the control pod starting having issues with one speaker going out. Started happening after about 6 months on a second control pod I got. The speakers themselves are great quality, but this series has been retired for a reason.

Listening on borrowed time
There are almost endless reviews for this product on the internet, boasting about it's quality. I am not here to challenge that. If you want 2.1 (2 satellites, 1 woofer) speakers than there is really no other item on the market comparable in quality.HOWEVER!!!!If you are content with losing 1 of the 2 satellites within an unreasonably short time, go ahead and purchase these. The speakers themselves--satellites and the woofer--will most likely last an adequate amount of time. There will not be an issue with the items themselves. Rather, the female RCA input for either the left or right satellite will stop working. For me, the left speaker died within 4 years. For many others with the exact same issue, it was within the first 6 months. I bought these 4 years ago and enjoyed every second of their quality and impressive volume levels. However, there has yet to be a solution to this common and inevitable problem. One of the speakers will die and the issue will be either in the voice coil of the satellite in question, or an unexplainable lack of power running to the female RCA port.If you don't know your way around circuitry, speakers specifically, than you will not be able to fix the problem on your own. Only after enlisting my mechanical engineering roommate was I able to fully identify the issue and, even then, the only remedy was buying a new, different product. This problem is peculiar in the way that the device itself will be fine, but the connection to it will be disrupted and the reason behind it will not come easy to you, regardless of your intelligence in this field. So, you will be hearing excellent, unparalleled sounds coming from the speakers, but you will be doing so on borrowed time until one piece of the 3 piece set flatlines.

Single channel only
Bought this some time back only recently put to work. Left speaker and bass work fine, right speaker channel DEAD. Switch speaker connections and problem is NOT with the speaker. With the wretched box. Numerous posts on the same problem, tried remedy but Zero. A total and utter disgrace! Logitech no longer a trusted supplier for my requirements!
