Storelli ExoShield Goalkeeper Pants, High-Impact Protection, Sweat-Wicking, UV-Resistant Athletic Bottoms for Soccer

Purchased July, 2016.Review posting: January, 2018I play almost exclusively indoor. I play once a week in a competitive league and frequently sub in a rec league. I estimate that I have played 85 - 90 matches in these pants.The great: Easily the best GK pants I have used in my 15 years. Comfortable, breathable, lightweight, and much cooler than the heavy full-length pants I used to wear. These pants are especially effective in indoor where the turf tears my knees up when I wear shorts. The hip padding is also a plus as evidenced by the day after a match when I can hop out of bed with much-reduced soreness compared to playing without the padding.The not-so-great (and why 3 stars): This calls out a design flaw that for me as a consumer is significant. The knee pads are covered by a light mesh and are not replaceable. Within 6 matches (about 4 weeks), I noticed that the light fabric mesh covering one knee pad was showing significant signs of wear and a small tear. Withing the next couple matches, a hole was evident in the mesh covering that quickly grew. Without the protection of the mesh covering, the pad was exposed and has since then significantly worn away so that I now only have about 40% of the padding remaining on that knee. I could easily have justified ordering a new pair after 6 months (~30 matches) based on how much padding had worn away - I just couldn't pull the trigger on the price. I'll give them another 6 months before replacing them. This would be a 5-star review if the mesh covering wasn't so light and so easily shredded and if the knee-pads were replaceable. The rest of the pants are in perfect condition, so if it wasn't for the knee pad, there would be no need for me to consider replacing them.---UPDATE--Changed from 3 stars to 5 starsI am leaving the above comments for historical reference for anyone who purchased these in the original design. Shortly after writing the previous review, I had to replace my original pair. What I received was a drastically improved redesign from the original. The most significant improvement is that the fabric round the knee is noticeably more durable - almost canvas-like. My first concern was that it would reduce the breathability/comfort, but since the heavier fabric is primarily just around the knee, the added durability is well worth the slight trade-off in weight

After about one month of use on artificial turf fields, I can say with great confidence that the Storelli Sports BodyShield Ultimate Protection 3/4 GK Pants offers awesome hip and knee protection. I'm 33-years old, play recreational soccer twice a week and while rec soccer is about FUN FUN FUN, I approach the game with a high competitive spirit - diving for loose balls, getting from post to post, etc. Without these protection pants, I know I'd be way more banged up and for recreational soccer it's not worth it to get injuries so these pants are a good investment for long-term protection.One thing I must bring up is the attached photo which is the actual product I received from Amazon. As you can see, the pants are all black and different from the current stock photo set used. If my edition of the Storelli pants are indeed the latest edition, Amazon may want to update the stock photos so interested buyers' expectations are aligned with the advertised product. I was not personally disappointed that the pants I received were different from the product advertised, this note is more for other shoppers interested in this superb goalkeeper pant!

Great pants for goalie! I started looking for a protection for my almost 10yr old goalie after he got some bruises and scratches during intensive goalie practice. It sure gave him more confidence wearing these pants and bodyshield shirt while diving. I chose size small based on reviews and the fact that my kid is skinny average height almost 10 yr old. Could've got medium, they are really snug fit. He had them for a 1,5 month now, used 3 times a week for a really intensive practice and there is already a tear on one knee (picture). But he absolutely loves them! So I still give it 5 stars despite being ripped

Ordered these for my son who plays GK on a competitive soccer team. They are by far the best pants on the market, and the only ones he wants to wear. The quality is amazing the pads are placed just right. These offer real protection not like other brands with some flimsy foam about as thick as a quilt. He plays between 3-5 times a week and they have held up amazing and wash up great (hang to dry).Now for the negative they run small. My son is 9, tall for his age and about 85 pounds. On the advise from a company rep we ordered a AS they were huge the crotch was down to his Knees, we exchanged for a YL and they fit great in length and pad placement but the waist, butt and thigh area are snug. There is a HUGE size difference between the YL and AS. I sure wish the company would offer a YXL or an AXS there sure is a need for those sizes.The pros outweigh the cons. He loves them and will continue to squeeze into them for as long as he can.

My son is a goalie and this is just what he needed! He is tall and skinny and diving for the ball hurts. This provides added protection to his hips and knees! Great investment!! I will continue to buy these as he grows during his soccer career!! Also he plays the field at times and is able to do so wearing these!

Wow this item definitely made a change to my futsal sessions i can finally walk after the games the pads on the hips are a lifesaver previously i had purple spots everywhere now i can be more confident about my saves without getting hurt , one bad thing the yellow elastic will come and is impossible to put it back on , other than that is great !

Great design and fit for my 7-yr old son, who is starting to dive and use proper technique. We live in NC, very hard ground on many of the fields. This and his Storelli top (not cheap) remove the fear factor of diving. Excellent product. Not cheap, but worth it. Haven't seen anything comparable out there.
