This set works STUPENDOUSLY on fine hair!
This is a review for both the OGX Niacin & Caffeine Shampoo and Conditioner, as they are most likely best used in conjunction with one another. My hair background:My hair is fine and pretty willfully straight except a bump at the bottom when it is at shoulder length. My scalp tends towards very oily, though my strands themselves can be dry - particularly at the ends - both due to my hair being delicately fine and due to my penchant for chemical processing. I often opt for crayon-colored hair, which means I bleach and then use a gentle direct dye to get the bright, true colors I am after. I do not have dandruff. In the past I would shampoo daily in order to keep my oily hair in check. My scalp is so oily that when I wash the night before, it will be greasy by mid-day at best. However, all the shampooing leads to dry strands and color-stripping.So, I now shampoo only a couple times a week and rely on the magic of a combination of oil sprays to condition the length of my strands (I like: ) and dry shampoo on my scalp and roots. This lets me have more time in the morning, prevents oil and color stripping my hair and gives my typically super-slick, fine and straight hair some fun texture. That said, I need a good shampoo and conditioner for those times I am doing a traditional shampoo. While I fell in love with co-washing for quite awhile, everyone's needs vary and change over time, and moving towards more dry shampooing has led me to feeling that co-washing is not feeling powerful enough to remove all the build up like a traditional shampoo does.Because my hair and scalp aren't normal - they are fine and oily - I can't say how many brands and types of hair cleansers/conditioners I've used over the past few decades trying to get thicker locks and less greasy scalp issues. Especially in the teen years, but wanting to look nice doesn't go away just because you are a confident adult. So, I've tried several traditional cleansing products in the past 6 months since going onto a strong "bleach + fun color + dry shampoo" routine, one was even another OGX product, but it wasn't the one. OGX Niacin & Caffeine is the one! Here is why:1. On top of all my other hair woes, I am getting older (almost 37 this week!) and finding my hair both more delicate and more sheddy. It's natural for hair to thin as we age, but just as natural to combat this effect. Please note: Because I haven't used the product long enough to see positive results - as hair growth cycles aren't changed for the better overnight - I can only say that unlike some other reviewers, this product has not made my hair fall out. I am sure that like everything, this will depend on you and your body's unique differences. At this time I have little to say on this matter, but high hopes, and I am a serial review updater and PROMISE I will return in the next few months with more information on how this goes for me. Ok? Ok! :-)2. This shampoo has a lovely tingle, reminiscent of tea tree oil products. I love that feel. It makes my scalp feel good and clean. It removes residue - including oil and dry shampoo buildup - like a champ.3. It also doesn't smell strongly like tea tree. While I love the effects of tea tree, and I actually like the smell in the proper time and place - that sharp medicinal odor - but I don't really want to go around smelling like that all day. And the scalp, nape and hair is an excellent conductor of odor. When I use a tea tree shampoo, even if I use a normal fragrance conditioner, I smell that tea tree sharpness ALL DAY LONG. With this product I get the tingles, the clean feel, but none of the lingering medicinal odor.4. This rinses clean as a whistle - important for fine haired folks - but at the same time it doesn't overly strip my strands - also important for fine (and delicate!) haired folks! So, even prior to applying conditioner, this stuff doesn't leave fine hair feeling tangled, stripped and mushy textured (you know? that dry, gritty, snaggly feel of too processed hair you can feel when a shampoo is too rough - especially if you DO have chemically processed hair!). This almost leaves my hair feeling great enough that I would consider NOT conditioning. But no, I follow with the OGX Niacin & Caffeine conditioner...5. And I L - O - V - E, *LOVE* this conditioner! Like the shampoo it also tingles a bit, but isn't stinky. However, the most important part is that it leaves my hair feeling smooth and silky without weighing it down or being hard to rinse. As an oily-scalped, fine-haired lady who has been trying so-called "conditioning yet bodifying" products for DECADES this is one of the very few that hits all the marks. To describe the depth of how well this stuff works you should know that it EASILY rinses clean in the bathtub - which, as an avid bather, I know is a marker for ease of rinsing as showers are vastly superior for swiftly and effectively removing debris and conditioner product residue - and yet my hair feels tangle-free and smooth while wet, and even my typically dry ends look nice after it is dry. Please note: I don't see this product specifically touted as "bodyfying", but because it is light and rinses clean it should hurt too much, and you should be able to apply root boosters and run through your typical styling routine just fine. Please also note: Like the shampoo, I am not sure of the effects of letting this sit on my scalp awhile. Will it help my hair grow more thick? I don't know yet, but I will keep you updated with news in the next few months as I keep track of the long term results.Bottom line: if you have hair and scalp anything like I've described mine to be, you should give this brand and line a whirl! I actually just ordered the scalp treatment spray from Amazon: Ogx Niacin 3 & Caffeine Root Stimulating Spray 4ozPrice on Amazon: Though I am a pretty loyal Amazon shopper, please know that I bought my shampoo and conditioner at a local store that sells this at $7.99 a bottle and was $5 a bottle on sale. It pays to know the going MSRP as sometimes Amazon is NOT the best place to buy beauty products which are normally available at your local stores. Currently the shampoo and conditioner look to be at $11-13 a piece at cheapest - which means I got both products on sale for less than the price of one at the current Amazon pricing, and even at normal MSRP (Which I am guessing is probably at the 7 dollar mark for most stores) it would still be cheaper than buying on Amazon at this time. Maybe in the future this will go Subscribe and Save, Add-On or the vendors will just stop gouging. Until then I am buying at the CVS (Funny, because I typically find CVS MORE expensive for almost everything!), or whichever local place has this in stock for the lowest cost, but for now is the option that makes the most sense for me.I hope this review helped. I hope you love this shampoo and conditioner. I will be sure to update my review as I get a better feel of the potential "fall out reduction" effects of this line and I will also update with a review on this guy once I get and use it a bit: Ogx Niacin 3 & Caffeine Root Stimulating Spray 4oz. The spray is currently up for $5.99, by the way, which I feel is completely reasonable. Though, again, when I checked a few days ago that lowest price was nearly double - so just keep your eyes peeled and don't overpay if you don't have to! :-)UPDATE 10/04/2016: Something I like to do when I am pretty sure I am not going crazy, and a product seems to be having a certain desirable effect, is I try out NOT taking it anymore -- to see what happens. So about 30 days ago - I stopped taking Vitafusion Gorgeous Hair, Skin & Nails Multivitamin, 135 Count and I stopped using my OGX Shampoo and Conditioner and Spray. HERE ARE THE RESULTS: Sort of the same was as a supplement takes awhile to work it's way into your system and slowly take effect for the better, stopping taking this product (and using the shampoo and conditioner) took awhile to show up as negative impact, too. My nails had been growing FAST as a result of this product, but suddenly they actually began to break for the first time in probably about 6 months. Not just one rogue accidental break but I actually broke several of them and had to cut my nails back to my fingertips, which also hasn't happened in 6 months. As for my hair, it very swiftly began a shed cycle, whereas before I was able to brush my hair and mostly not have to pick any hairs off my top for months... suddenly I was a shedding machine. Hairs upon hairs - in the brush, blown around the bathroom when I styled and alllllllll over my tops at work alllllllllll niiiiiiiiight loooooong. Very annoying. I am going to go back on the supplement and using the hair products now and see how it goes! I will be sure to update in either about a month - or when I first begin to see positive results. :-)UPDATE 12/20/2016: Okay, so I have to be honest. While this line of products makes your hair shedding dramatically slow, and thus to somewhat thicken, there is at least one potential side effect - stopping product use may cause you to undergo the most horrible shedding of your life, and it may last awhile and you may want to put a beanie on your head and hide your shedding head from the world. It took me months (see when I last posted?) to get my hair to stop shedding like crazy after I stopped using this product and it was the worst my hair has ever been. I can't say I became bald, but it was clearly thinner in places and the hairs falling off everywhere all day long, at home, at work, while out on errands - it's gross and annoying. So, while I appreciate what the product does, I don't at all appreciate what happens when you don't use it anymore. I just got back to "not shedding like crazy!" stage, and I am not sure what I want to do at this point. I am certainly worried about quitting the use of this product but at the same time... maybe I should just do that and get it over with? I am not sure. I will update with my decision and the results in the next few months. Hope this helps.UPDATE 08/16/2017 - I realized I forgot to update this. Since my update I have reduced the use of all these products to once or twice a week. If I go less than that I start veering towards a heavy shed cycle. I tend to use the spray at night - so I don't care if it makes my hair look/feel not as fresh - and will typically use the shampoo with another conditioner or the conditioner with another shampoo. That said, I feel like it works best when you use all three on a more regular basis. I just like to be able to use other products when I want aromatherapy, my scalp is irritated, when I need conditioning on my heavily processed hair, etc. So, a couple times a week makes me shed much less but doesn't get in the way of me not wanting to be tied down to one line. Hope this helps!

Love the smell
I really like how this doesn’t weigh my hair down and keeps it soft. Just started using it so not sure yet how it will affect my hair growth

Spikey hair sticking out all over my head. Growth or breakage?
UPDATE: 3 months of use. The spikey hair is new growth. I went to the hairdressers and she confirmed. It takes time but it does work. My hair fallout is l likely due to stress, and the intermediates in this conditioner have provided my scalp with the right environment to encourage new growth. I only use the conditioner now and just finished bottle number two. I use it with my preferred conditioner and only put it on my scalp as it weighs down my baby fine hair. I can honestly say this stuff works! It's a crappy conditioner otherwise, and I wouldn't use it if it was just for conditioning my hair.I am just about finished with my first bottles of the shampoo conditioner and root spray. This is a tough review to write because if you have thinning hair you'd do/use anything to help. I think overall I would say go for It and give it a solid month to see what happensMy results are spiked fly away hairs poking out all over my head. I can't even hold them down with gel. The question is, are they new growth or new breakage? When you use a shampoo like this you tend to examine the drain and hairbrush for every trace of hair. So please do that now before you try these products so you have comparisons and can really say whether it decreases fall out from breakage or causes more fall out..... I can't tell you anything to that claim because I never did a before and after examination of the drain and hairbrush. I wish I hadn't ever started looking at the drain and hairbrush because now my hair loss situation seems more dramatic. The only product that made my scalp tingle was the conditioner. The tingle decreased as the weeks went by. Now not so much of a tingle. Make sure to cold water rinse for a tingle that lasts for the next 30 minutes.I have thin fine hair. These products felt like they left a residue on my hair. It weighed my hair down. I didn't mind during the week, but didn't use these products before date night. When I shower at night and used all three products my hair was greasy the next morning. My solution to the above was a once a week wash with Dawn. Works like a charm for build up. Don't do this frequently. After my dawn shampoo my hair was awesome looking except for the new growth was blowing around in the breeze. Seriously, if all those spikey hairs are in fact new growth, then damn, gross looking hair for a few months is worth it.My scalp was more itchy during the use of this product, and it's March so it could be winter itch as well.I'm switching to the ogx collagen full and thick purple bottle stuff now. I will then likely try the bamboo one and probably circle back around to the niacin. I'm curious to see it work in the summer when my hair growth is at its best.I'm sorry your hair is thinning. It seriously sucks. I think you should give this product a go. If your a guy and don't have to style then you should definitely use this. No girly smell, no pink bottles, this shampoo keeps your manhood in tact and will likely help.Warning, new hair growth looks ridiculous. While I adore amazon this product should cost you around $5 at you local drugstore/grocery store. I paid $12 I think on amazon. What? Why? I don't know why I did that...... dumb.

Amazing product!
I absolutely love this product and it significantly reduced the amount of hair in my comb after I wash my hair. I have read that it has been discontinued, and I am deeply saddened by this!

HATE IT!!!
BRING BACK THE COCONUT CAFFEINE FORMULA!!!This makes my hair feel thicker, but stiff and brittle. Not really thicker. Washes right out!!! Won't ever buy again! Don't like the smell either. Old formula worked great, smelled wonderful.

Great to find here!
Can't always find this formula in the local stores, so great to find it here on Amazon and the price was good. Could be better LOL but still worth it.
