A perfect companion for a full frame Z series camera when you don't want to be carrying around a lot of bulky,& heavy, gear. Optical quality ,although very good, is not quite up with the more expensive Z series lenses, as you would expect at this price point, but well worth the £289 that Amazon were charging when I bought it recently rather than the asking price of well over £400 at other UK dealers.Buy now if you are tempted because Nikon prices are due to go up significantly in the near future & many UK dealers have been unable to get stock of many Nikon products for months.

This is super-versatile. Obviously a little slower than a prime lens or 2.8 70-200, but most of the time one doesn’t need or want to shoot with the aperture wide open. The gain is weight, convenience, and the time you’re not spending changing lenses (in what might be a wet or dusty environment which is not great for the sensor).Very pleased with it.Optics good too.

No replacement for the 2.8 lenses but has great image quality and is a fraction of the weight of the 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses to achieve the same focal range. Not to mention a fraction of the cost.I have the 2 f2.8 lenses as well and can notice a quality difference but that should be expected.I have noticed a slight blue caste but I was capturing mountains so could be haze.

This is not a brilliant lens. It is however a great lens for what it does. There's little choice for Nikon Z cameras unless you have £thousands. So it's an affordable decent lens. Likely for most they'll never need anything else. If you're a pro, it's different but most of us are amateurs. Okay, from 24-200mm it performs well. There are no glaring gaps where performance drops to rubbish. Throughout it maintains a decent quality - even wide open. Often stopping down gives a bit more. I'm happy with this lens. I have too the 24-70mm S lens but there'slittle if any difference between them in that range.I got a good price from Amazon with the security of Amazon's returns. Such that you can try then return easily.BTW I sold my D850 to afford a Z7II. I regret that. If you need video then it's a good move. If not, then stick with your D850. Great camera. Nikon's best DSLR.

very versatile lens for travel from landscape to sport this is a one-lens solution

I wanted a good "walkaround" lens for my Nikon Z6ii and after reading a few reviews, I decided on this lens. I'm genuinely surprised at the quality & sharpness of it, as it's not the most expensive of Nikon's offerings. Certainly will be in my camera bag as a go-to lens now!

Most of the Z lenses are pretty astounding. The rest are great. This one, although not an S lens, is also great. I have the 24-70 F4 but wanted some extra reach. This lens does not disappoint. Not having a fixed aperture isn't an issue for me as I shoot at F8 a lot. Put this lens on your camera and you likely won't take it off.

Covers the most useful focal lengths in a small package with very decent picture quality. Cheap enough to use under bad weather conditions, if it brakes, replace the lens.

This is a surprisingly good lens from Nikon. Although it is not an “S” line lens, none-the-less, it creates really good images. Of course, the focal length flexibility of this zoom lens 24-200 is outstanding and works well as a “walk around” lens. There is not, “one lens to rule them all”, but this one comes pretty close. Also, if attached to a full frame camera, then using it in “DX” mode, simulates a focal length out to 300mm. So with a focal length capability of 24-“300”mm there are not many scenes out of reach to photograph. Cheers
