Exactly what I needed
The icemaker on my GE gbsc0hcxarww refrigerator stopped working some months ago. I had tried quite a few things, including trying to reset it via the flap on the icemaker itself, letting it defrost, turning the water off and on--all to no avail. Having to buy bags of ice was a drag. Finally bought this unit. It was super easy to install. Turned off the water, pulled out and unplugged the refrigerator, undid the cover, and was able to remove the valve and install the new one quickly. Used a towel but hardly any water came out. Didn't even need to cut the old tube to the icemaker. This also was a great chance to clean all the dust from the back.Finished up at ~10p, and wasn't sure if it was working. Checked at 12:30a and saw a single cube. SUCCESS! Verified next morning more cubes (thrown out in case it was stale), and have been getting plenty of ice since!

Revive your icemaker
I bought a Craigslist fridge, in part because of its icemaker. Finding no ice, I sat down with YouTube and eventually reasoned out that this valve was not working.90 minutes of fumbling and swearing later (would have been ten minutes for somebody with the right skills and tools) and we have ice.

Drop in Replacement
This part is a direct replacement for the water valve that came with my GE refrigerator. Installation takes about five minutes with a nutdriver and a screwdriver. It took a few hours for my icemaker to get cold enough to call for water. Everything worked fine after that.I'm only dinging this one star, because the original valve failed with the icemaker water turned fully on. If I hadn't been in the kitchen, I would have been cleaning up a flood.A water valve like this should ideally fail in the "water off" mode.

Exactly what I needed.
My ice maker in my freezer stopped working (came home to puddles of water on the floor). I replaced the ice maker itself but that wasn't enough. After some research I decided to try replacing the water inlet valve as well. After installing this part along with my new ice maker, it works as good as new.

Be wary of your old water line
Turns out it was not the valve that was my issue. The nice old gray water line from the valve to the water filter has a formed end that inserts into the valve. I call myself breaking the factory seal. Not the case. The waterline broke off flush with the formed end. Off to my favorite box hardware store for 1/4" ferrule and a new compression nut. Water tight and still holding. Will assume with the pulsing of water going to the ice maker, cracked/broke the water line and it had been leaking for quite some time. Replaced old flexible service line with stainless braided one. Will probably last longer than the refrigerator.

Works like it should
This part worked exactly how it needed to. The only complaint that I have is it did not come with instructions. Thank goodness for YouTube.
