Quality leather holster
As mentioned in the description this is a copy of a design made famous by a custom holster maker. They cost more than twice what the DeSantis do and take about 6 months to get. You can see and feel the difference between the two though. The DeSantis holster isn’t finished as nicely but still looks incredibly good. The fit is a little looser than the more expensive ones too.A couple nice features both have:The snaps on the loops have one way snaps. It takes some getting used to but they only snap on and off in a very particular manner. Instructions are included. What they do is preventing the loops from opening accidentally. An incredibly nice feature.DeSantis also includes some Kydex clips that allow you to convert this holster into a tuckable holster. You remove the screws on the belt loops and attach the clips with the same screws. It’s incredibly easy and actually works very well. I prefer the security of the belt loops with their sold snaps so I don’t use them though.Overall it’s a great holster for the money. I only gave this 4 stars do to the fact I’m comparing this to the custom holster this is a copy of. Probably not fair of me but whatever.

Good Stuff
This was my first full leather rig. I have tried full kydex and hybrids before with various results. As with any holster, it takes time to get used to things. Initially it "poked" my leg a bit but that stopped after a day. The holster also fits both my govt. as well as commander.First the good, this fits my 1911s like a glove. Retention is just right, it can hold a loaded steel framed govt. upside down and while running. I don't foresee that ever being an issue. Comfort is good, you can carry every day without issue. I also feel the spacing of the belt loops is good for distributing the weight of the full size 1911, my pants haven't felt like they were riding low because of the pistol/holster. Useability is also good, the holster has a forward cant that I prefer over a straight draw. Additionally I can reholster one handed. Now the drawbacks... That are nitpicky. First complaint are the snaps on the leather loops. One of them took three men and an act of congress to get open. But has since become easier to do/undo, so I considered that a breaking in issue. Second, going back to the cant I mentioned earlier. While I prefer it, I know of others who don't. It would be an improvement if there was a way to adjust said cant.Considering the sale price I paid and overall quality of the holster I am very happy with it.Update 7/7/16: the snaps have broken in and are much easier to do/undo.The holster is holding up well to daily carry. No discernible wear on the exterior, but the interior is showing slight wear. Nothing that I am concerned about as retention is still great.

Great IWB holster with multiple mount options.
Very well crafted, with multiple options for mounting. It has the standard leather loops with snaps as shown in the photos. It also has a couple of plastic clips. With two forward mount locations and two rear location, you can adjust the angle and height as desired. After trying a few variations, I prefer it just as shipped with the leather loops in the highest position. As far as fit with the firearm, it is perfect. I have a couple of 1911's (3-inch barrel and 5-inch barrel) and both fit great. As other reviewers have mentioned, the leather dye was not allowed to dry prior to assembly. Thus the leather loop was stuck to the holster as the dye glued the two parts together before drying. This would be my only complaint.

Excellent holster with a few minor flaws.
Great holster with a few minor flaws. At this price point I wasn't expecting such a nice holster. Carrying a full sized Government model steel frame 1911 all day can be tough without the correct holster and belt. This holster is up to the task. The only bad things I've found, and they're minor, are as follows.1.) The snaps can be really hard to close. But it's secure so no big deal.2.) The leather belt loops were mounted immediately after being dyed and they are "glued" to the holster. If you try to remove them they peal off and mess up the finish under them.3.) A holster like this, with the leather loops, should have a small bushing between the holster body and the leather belt loop straps. It allows the loops to rotate and gives your pants a bit of space to fit. I have some nice heavy leather and some hold punches so I made 2 easily enough.Other than those minor things it's a 5 star holster.

Almost got what I paid for.
It’s at least the item I ordered and like all desantis products it will do its intended job. The j hooks were not included in the package so I guess I didn’t get what I paid for. I bought from Amazon for the next day convenience but I should have ordered from Midway USA since they also have free shipping and the same exact price. Buyers beware.

fantastic value
Very comfortable. Works great right out of the box and is already more comfortable than 3 other full size 1911 holsters I've tried (a galco single point IWB, a Bianchi clip-on IWB, and a soft cheap clip on neoprene) my favorite thus far was the galco single loop IWB, and truth be told conceals the gun slightly better. However my big complaint with that holster was it sat the gun so low in my jeans that it tended to snag coming out on the ejection port.Having tried the mad max at work for a few days (i own and operate a fabrication shop), i can say that the retention is GREAT, the concealment is effective/above average (with a slightly loose shirt or jacket, and the comfort is similarly A+.I am very happy with the fit and finish and breaking it in has been natural, quick, and intuitive. I'm very hsppy with the purchase. The price is very much worth what you get. In fact it was 10 bucks cheaper than the galco unit that it put out of work.
