While some might use these pottery dishes for sauces, small appetizers or even desserts, I bought them because my geriatric cats can manage to eat wet food or crunchies from them without making a mess. They work great for this -- the little sides keep yummies corralled within the dish and the dish itself is not too deep for the very last crumb to be located and devoured. The subtle color is an extra bonus just for me ... they are truly lovely.

I do new unit set ups for Airbnbs. I use these for a small .41oz soap in the units and they are perfect. They haven't broken and they are the perfect size for a few small round soaps. (They wont fit a normal size bar of soap) Ive bought these several times to put in all of my bathrooms in 20+ Airbnbs and they work perfectly for the purpose. Glad I found these. I need to reorder soon!!

I just recently ordered a second set of these dipping bowls, after 5 years of daily use with the first one. I love the matte finish and modern shape. They pair nicely with a variety of other dishes, and are perfect for small bites, like banchan. I haven't experienced any problems with chipping.I primarily use mine for soft food for my 2 cats. One refuses to eat soft food out of any other bowl, which I will interpret as a feline stamp of approval.

I ordered the Mocca, and happy to say, it looks like the picture. They all came in good condition, no breakage. I enjoy Japanese food and these are fine for a small side dishes, fir one person, pickled cucumbers, or sauce, etc ... The description says porcelain/ceramic, which explains you need to be a little more delicate with them to avoid breaks, however that's a problem since they do not stack. They slip and slide on top of each other, and there is no way to stack safely when storing in your cabinet. I can see how accidents can happen with these. There is nothing written on the bottom stating microwave or dishwasher safe. If you need to warm the dish in the microwave, I wouldn't for more than 30 sec. but you also don't know what finish was put on these. So small, handwashing would be better. These do look good and seem okay, but with the stacking issue, I would probably look for a different kind if I start having breakage issues.

I bought this set along with the Stone Lain Matte Black dinnerware set because it doesn’t come with smaller bowls.In terms of color, this is not a matte black it’s more of a polished look and has a very slight brown color to it making it off color to my other dinnerware. It’s not very noticeable unless you’re really nitpicking.I thought these bowls would be a little bit larger, but they are considered dipping bowls, so that’s my fault for thinking that.The reviews are right, these bowl do not stack nicely, I would only stack it 3 high otherwise you seriously run the risk of them falling over and breaking. They are not all exactly the same size.That said, I do really like these bowls and they will definitely come in handy for dipping nuggets (or anything else). They are also helping me with portion controlling my desserts as you can see in my pictures.

There was a set of sauce dishes similar to these but each dish was different colors. These have a standard Japanese soy dish that fit with many interior designs.
