Fine Tuning Your Radial Arm Saw Hardcover – January 1, 1987

With this book plus the user's manuals I was able to completely tune up two Craftsman radial arm saws. One saw was made around 1960 (much earlier than the publication date of the book) and one around 1989 (a little later than the publication date). Neither the book alone or the user manuals alone are sufficient - you need both to both complete the adjustments and understand the principles of precision.If you are thinking about buying a radial arm saw, first review the chapter about portability. It will save you from potentially causing some expensive damage when you move it.I bought a used hardcopy here on Amazon for about $10. My radial arm saw can do almost any wood job (no, not turning), but for most it must be properly set up for accurate and precise cuts, milling, routing, etc. Many books tell how to do the jobs; this is the only one I've found that tells you how to calibrate and secure your saw to do those jobs. I'd have liked more diagrams and photos, but I can read and so it's all available there and well explained. One of the best buys I've made. The seller packaged it carefully like the fine tool it is. Couldn't be happier.....:-)

My husband was quite pleased with this book. I bought it for him as he was purchasing a radial arm saw, I thought it might come in handy. He says it really is helpful in getting everything set up correctly.

Excellent book written for multiple brands, well balanced between the "why" each step, where in the process it is and the on the three major brands. The skills and process you learn from this book could be transferred to other pieces of equipment. A must have for all radial am saw owners

If you have a radial arm saw, you need this book. I don't say that lightly. It tells so much more than any manufacturer's guide about aligning the machine, including a very interesting and accurate way of doing it "by ear".Can't be beat.

This guy know his radial arm saw. Lots of tips and how to's in this book. No wonder it is a coveted collectors book for us RAS users.

The book is pretty much what I expected. I was looking for new tips on maintaining radial arm saws. This is an old book but my copy is in great condition.
