Q: this product work? Do you apply it yourself after peeling a layer off or does it require something else?

They do work yes but require an induction sealing machine. They have no adhesive, instead you put the seal inside your cap and apply the cap to the bottle. You then set the machine to the correct time and settings and place the sealing portion on top of the cap and press the button and hold in place for the duration set. The machine essentially vibrates at a frequency causing the special material in the seals to heat up and bond to the plastic of the bottle. Too weak/short of a time and no seal, too strong/long and its like super sealed. Thats why when you open containers some times the foil peels easily all and all the way and others you basically have to stab a hole. Also you need to be very accurate with the size. I reccomend buying small quantities of various sizes to ensure you get the correct seal and it actually looks how its supposed to TL;DR Yes they work, yes you need an induction sealer (around $100-$150)

These are intended to be used with an induction sealer to work. I would suggest searching for "induction heat sealer" and you will find a variety of units available at a reasonable price. The one we purchased from Amazon was less than $100 and works great. You will need to experiment a bit to find the correct operation time for correct sealing of the container you are sealing.

Q: The thicker the foil the higher or lower the number?

What do you mean? The number is the diameter of the cap liner in millimeter not the thickness.

Q: are these true 28mm foil seals? My company has purchased 28mm foil seals from 2 company's now that are quite smaller than 28mm and don't work for us.

Sizewise, it is 28 mm in diameter. However, you MUST use Induction heat machine to seal this foil on to P.E.T. plastic only bottle, NOT any other plastic material.
