Dyslexia and Irregular "Sight" Words
I have three dyslexic children (oldest 6th grade and youngest 1st grade). All of them are using the Barton program. I have found though that they still had a difficult time visualizing their word lists (high frequency words, irregular spelling, etc) when I just wrote them on a plan note card using the black and red coloring. When I came across the I See, I Spell, I Learn cards (Homophones plus the other 3 sets they offer) I was delighted to give my visual learners a meaningful way to connect a story and picture to the spelling of a word. I am seeing fabulous results and laugh when they write these words from memory with the pictures too! I have attached a photo :) The visual is cemented into their brains. We found it a win!

A must buy!
The image within the word is brilliant. I highly recommend buying these cards. I teach 2nd grade and my students loved them.

Visual Learning
I love how these cards help visualize the spelling of a word to its meaning by including a simple drawing - this is especially key when multiple words sound exactly the same, but are spelled differently, and mean different things. However, some of the images were less obvious/clear examples of the word's definitions.BTW, you can use these cards as a spring board for kids to make their own visual vocabulary flashcards. It is a strategy that really help kids memorize and recall words including their spellings and meanings. If you make them yourself, then you will be able to use drawings that better express meaning to individuals. I do suggest you start with these flashcards though in order for kids to learn how they function before making your own.

A must have for your classroom!
I am a special education teacher and I LOVE these cards. All students love the pictures the words make, especially my Dyslexic students. They WORK. The quality of the cards are strong and almost laminated. They are a bit pricey but well worth it. I highly recommend these cards for not only special education students but all students. I have all four sets and love them all.

Make them yourself
I debated buying these, being a creative, crafty educator, but I thought they might be more engaging for my son. Thirty dollars for two packs of flashcards is ridiculous. Maybe it was late, maybe I thought they were gold-leafed, maybe I was just getting desperate trying to help my son master basic spelling and word recognition... but a more level-headed assessment wouldn't conclude with a purchase. They are very cool. I think we can we can find ways better ways to help our kids and stretch our dollars.

Great quality BUT company did not select the most straightforward visuals
The cards are of great quality, however, the visual hints which the company chose to use do not always (easily) make sense to my students. I think it would be more effective to show the cards as a model and offer the opportunity to come up with their own visual clues. Much more meaningful that way.

Great sight word cards!
I bought these for my first grader. They were a big hit!! We’ve only had them for a day and she is already grasping the concept better. Thank you for your product. It’s very helpful.

A Must Have for Visual Learners
If you have a child who is a visual learner or who has dyslexia you NEED these cards! The picture cues are very effective. I was quite surprised at how easily my child was able to learn sight words using these cards. The actual cards are very durable and high quality. The images do not detract from the actual letters, which, in my opinion, makes it easier for students to transfer their knowledge to words printed on the page. Homophones can be tricky, but these cards have helped immensely!
