Quality Japanese Tool
Very nicely made Japanese tool. Appears to be as accurate as needed for woodworking and possibly metalworking. I haven't done an inspection other than checking with opposing drawn lines. The blade with the measurements on it is within .001" width from end to end. The only complaint is, and it's probably the newness of it, the edges and corners are sharp.

Perfect Japanese-quality tool.
I have been using mine for a couple months for basic fabrication on mild steel. It’s lightweight but very strong and it is a beautiful tool. Would definitely recommend.Update: 12.19.23 I am actually purchasing another of these machinist squares. I love the 1st one so much that I want another. The first will live on my bandsaw for squaring up the table to the blade and the other will live in my packout for mobile work. I have several other squares but this one is the perfect size for setting up tools.

Annoying cutout at a joint.
The square is precise and very well made. However, it's a pain to use when your reference area is short (like at the end of a board) - there's a little gain cut out where the stem enters the body, seemingly for easier scale reading. That cut out that makes a square alignment a pain. In fact you can't properly align it when the available distance is between 5 and 7 mm long - it's where the little miter is.Other than that it's a good square, it's just it will never be your to go square, since it's super annoying to use for small stuff like dovetails, small tenons, etc.
