Perfect GE Profile Cooktop Replacement!
Replaced a twenty year old GE Profile with this new unit. Fortunately, the stove top cutout opening was exactly the same, so no hassles with that. If you are at all handy, you should be able to do the install yourself. The only extra piece that I had to purchase was a rectangular to circular transition joint to hook up with the outflow circular ductwork under the cabinet. The electrical connections were very straightforward as well. Basically, black to black, red to red, and white/green to white. However, if you are not familiar with how to do wiring, I would strongly suggest hiring an electrician. The unit works flawlessly and the wife loves how anything she cooks on it cooks more evenly (for lack of a better description). She also loves how it looks and how easy it is to keep clean. The only downside is that these cooktops are rather expensive. Other than that, I would highly recommend the GE Profile Cooktop!

Very pleased
I finally got this installed - um, it is realllly heavy - so have help! Once you attach the downdraft fan - it is super heavy. The fan is super powerful, that is really nice, keeps the cooking area cleared and no obnoxious overhead venting needed. I love the power boil setting. I didn't really realize all the nice features of this when I picked it out, I just knew the size I needed and that I had to have a downdraft, then price and overall star reviews came into play, and I made my choice. I was switching over from a propane cooktop that was not working well, and was thrilled that my electrician was able to do all the disconnects and hookups needed. He was even impressed by the cooktop. It looks really nice and it seats firmly in position. A reminder- the counter mount is optional and does not come included. There is no shifting or movement.

Pros: Great Stove Top --- Cons: Hard to Install Duct Work - Hard to Keep Clean - Overall Very Happy With My Purchase
I would have given it five starts if it wasn't a pain to install the duct work for the fan and if it was a little easier to clean.I replaced a Jenn-Air with this one.The knobs are WAY stronger than the crap ones on my last stove (which were ridiculously expensive to replace). I love that the knobs are in the middle. My last ones were in the corners and I couldn't use my big pan on the burners without having to move the pan slightly off to fit. However, the knobs are so close together that it's hard to get clean in that little space. If you're OCD like me, you will have to wipe it down for a while every night. The more you wipe the more oil smears and streaks the glass. And the glass is harder to keep clean than the Jenn-Air. A lot of elbow grease but it's beautiful when it's done. The fan has three levels and is powerful. I have only needed the lowest so far. Also, there's a burner lock. If you have it set to on, it will sound a buzzer alarm if a burner is turned on. I'll likely never use it but perhaps a good feature for someone out there. The burners are great. Even heat, heat up pretty fast, and the various sizes are working well with all my different pans.My husband had a fun time installing the fan because these geniuses made the duct squared instead of round like the one already under our cabinet. He had to customize it. If you're not handy make sure you get someone who is. It's a pain, especially if you don't have much room under the stove. You will need to make a trip (or two) to Home Depot to install the fan if your original is round.Other than that I love it. I cook 3-4 meals a day and have used it for over a week now. Since there are so few glass tops with a down draft to choose from I'm glad this one is so nice and I didn't have to settle for mediocre. Overall, very happy with my purchase.UPDATE:Been using this for about 3 months now. I still love the stove top for a lot of reasons: The heat levels, the size of the burners and overall function.I will add from my previous review that the fan is good but has a harder time with high pots (which I don't use often). And to expand on the surface of it....well, it's such a pain to keep clean and scratches so easily. If you cook at all on this, it's impossible to keep nice. Let go of the OCD early on or it will drive you nuts every night.Lastly, when I reach down into the fan to clean it out I continually get cut from the screw in there. I need to cover it with something. Other than that, it's pretty easy to clean the inside, the filter and the vent top.Overall, I really like this stove top.

Nothing is sleeker and easier to clean than a glass cooktop!
40 years in my house, this is cooktop #5, and I hope it’s the last. This GE cooktop is better designed than my previous 2 glass tops. The burners that will be used most are in front, unlike my others. The bridge between the 2 left burners is terrific for my long griddle. What I really love is the rapid boil feature. Such a time saver. Glass cooktops are so sleek, d though they can be a challenge to clean, they sure best removing the grids and cleaning gas ranges! Just clean it every time it is used and tend to any spills or stuck on food immediately. It’s much easier and more effective that way! Glass cook tops look great, and cook well, My greatest words of caution from a serious cook, who just bought my third glass cooktop are 1) don’t slide cookware across burners-the glass will scratch, 2) be very careful not to drop even the smallest of things on the glass-it will crack easily, 3) do not put off removing cooked on food.

Fit existing counter top opening originally set for 30" Kenmore stove top
The product is working well and is a tremendous upgrade from the previous 30-year-old Kenmore product. It's easy to clean and wasn't too difficult to install, but I followed the advice of another customer and installed the plenum before setting the top. However, that extra weight requires two persons to "set" the stove top.
