I bought this really as a backpacking shovel and it exceeded my expectations. As we sometimes know with backpacking, light does not always mean better. This is a very solid and rugged shovel with survival necessities included. It is so nice and durable; I actually have it in my truck in case of an emergency. It breaks down and does not take up much room, but durable enough for almost any task. I highly recommend this shovel to anyone who is into backpacking camping or just to have in their vehicle in case of an emergency!

Bottom Line: your money will be will spent on this product. The price you pay for one shovel and how long that one shovel will last will easily pay for itself when compared to how many times you will easily go through several other brands of shovels as you break and replace. Spending alot of time in the U.S. Army with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan I am intimately familiar with the US Army GI issue E-tool (as well as many other brands once I became a civilian again where I spend an exorbent amount of time in the backcountry). I have lost count how many times I have busted all types of E-tools and how hard that inferior design puts your body in an awkward position leading to honestly piss-poor shoveling techniques and more effort than it should be. The EST Survival Shovel at first unboxing was absolutely impressive. The quality, the feel, the design, and attention to detail could immediately be seen and felt. These definitely get a high-quality precision-milling process as every piece screwed together and went into place so smoothly and flawlessly without any rattling of looseness noticed. Once assembled it gives absolute confidence of its stability and capability to perform its countless jobs and so much more. When I first got this, I tested it in the back yard and not once piece budged or accidently collapsed like the GI issued E-tool sometimes can. I am 6'3" and built like a brick wall and I absolutely leaned into this shovel to give it a true stress test and it kept up every inch of the way. Plus, the digging position was so much better and the efficiency and time saved using this superior tool was phenomenal. You will not be disappointed purchasing this item, especially since the company is very user-friendly and backs up their products.

This shovel has a very good build quality. Packs up into a very easy to carry small bag and is not that heavy. For value for money I am not disappointed. Most functional shovel you can find for backpacking/camping.

FIRST IMPRESSIONSI purchased my survival shovel online thru Amazon, and it did not have a hatchet head included with it. I contacted EST directly to see if I could purchase the hatchet head separately and their customer services was excellent. They sent the hatchet head along with a L1 Torch headlamp right out to me. I own an RV and picked up these items to use this year during my camping trips. I wanted to give a first impressions review, and then I will follow it up in a few weeks with an update review once I have put them to good use. The survival shovel is excellent quality and feels very sturdy in hand. There is no rattling and when put together feels like this shovel can take on any task. There is no surprise that when receiving the hatchet head I assembled it immediately and got the same impression. It came very sharp and looks and feels like it can take some real abuse. I have been using the L1 Torch for a few weeks now as my EDC flashlight and it has replaced all other flashlight in my collection. I will be doing a completely separate review on the flashlight/headlamp but can highly recommend it as extremely high quality and as a light source that gets the job done. Not to ramble on but my first impression out of the box is I am impressed and I am looking forward to my first camping trip of the summer to put this all to work and see how they perform. I took this with me for a small camping trip. It was very useful woth the wood I needed to gather and fire I needed to start. This is a great product woth quality material for the amount that you're spending. Highly recommend this.

I bought the survival shovel for camping. It is strong and has many applications. With the many options built into the shovel, I can see it would greatly enhance my chance for survival if I ever found myself stranded in a remote area. It is light, compact, and can be carried in a backpack. I pat myself on the back for making a good choice.

I just purchased this ultimate shovel and it’s everything they say it is. I have tried to register it for warranty by scanning the QR code provided, but the site cannot be found… doesn’t exist so hopefully someone will read this review and tell me how to register my new shovel. Thank you.

I bought this primarily as a shovel as I liked the compact design. As a shovel it works well to handle some light duty work while on the trail. The other tools are just too gimmicky and flimsy feeling. The ferro rod is just stuck and I cant get it out. Overall its a fine shovel but if you are buying it for any of the other tools you are making a mistake.
