Good flexibility
I have it paired with an S16 to give me 24 ports at the stage driven with an X32 compact or depending on the event I pair it with my x32 rack to get 24 stage ports with a small easy to haul around footprint.

Don't buy this product
I purchased the SD8, and it stopped working after only three weeks. At first, I thought the issue was with the cable, so I wasted time and money buying a new one. Once I finally tried a different cable, I realized the problem was actually with the SD8 itself, not the cable. To make matters worse, I can't return it because the 30-day return period has already passed. Save yourself the headache and don’t buy this product!

Died after 14 months - 2 months past warranty
The Behringer SD8 Digital Snake is an amazing tool, and has saved me a ton of time and money on wiring by being able to run my stage box remotely and not having to use a traditional snake hard wired back to the sound booth. I use a Behringer X32 board to control the digital snake in a church, and the entire system is well taken care of and on filtered, protected power. This being said, the snake worked great, for 14 months. One Wednesday night I turned on the power relay for the board and amp racks, and the X32 no longer saw the SD8. I figured someone had accidently turned off the power on the SD8, so I went down to the stage to turn it on. To my horror, i saw that the SD8 was powered up, but there were no link lights on for the AES50. I powered off the SD8 and powered back on, the power light comes on, the AES50 light comes on briefly, then flickers out.Being 2 months past warranty I went ahead and attempted to update the firmware, which has had zero affect on the SD8. The same problem occurs, it boots up, AES50 flickers and goes off, power stays on. I had to order another SD8 to get back up and running...I really like Behringer products, and want to stand behind them, but if all i can expect is 14 months use out of $400 piece of equipment, than I may have to start looking into other brands. We will see how long this second one lasts, but at this current point I cannot in good faith recommend using this in a professional, sustained-use environment.

use only shielded cat5 cable with shield tied to ground at both ends
there is nothing I disliked about this. It works as advertised.
