A MUST HAVE for pond maintenance
Just cleaned up my garden pond after a long cold winter. I usually scoop and net larger debris out of my pond with an old pool net which is very helpful, but I've never had a pond vacuum. This product was easy to use and has a helpful video link on how to use. This is more than just a wet/dry vac (I've owned many) and I'm glad I decided to get this specialized adaptation for easier pond health and maintenance. The rocker power switch has two settings, one side for pond cleaning and the other side for dry vac. The pond side powers down for about 25 seconds when the tank fills with water and pond debris to allow drainage thru drain tube with flapper check valve at end of tube. I made sure I had a nice continuous drain slope and extended to my front road swale over the sidewalk (pond is in front yard) with some extra hard tubing (2" I think) from my other shop vac. Worked like a dream. I do not have any gravel in my pond liner as I got rid of that years ago. There is an attachment to help keep the rocks out but that is not my issue as no gravel base on my pond lining. I have a large decorative rock perimeter and really like how it looks so natural, but no gravel or sand in the bottom. My big problem is leaves and multiple years of silty sediment build up. I found the wide head worked best for me and I lifted the vac head out on the 25 second drain cycle (vac powers down when full to drain) and simply pulled the clump of dead leaves off, then resumed cleaning the pond bottom. The clear section of suction tubing is key in giving visual confirmation that the vac head is not plugged and water with silt and debris is moving into the vac. I will be repeating this again soon only because I have so many years of sediment build up. We had a late summer last year with sudden drop in temp so trees held onto the leaves until the dead of winter, they only fell off in the spring which is very unusual for our location. Net result, I still have many dead leaves this spring blown into corners of my garden around the pond that will be gradually blown away by wind or raked up by me. I do plan on using my pool net to gather the pond leaves and my pond skimmer is also key to helping keep my pond clean. When I first put the pond in I had too much gravel and no skimmer and no pond vac. I added the skimmer after the first year which worked great, but a lot of leaves do sink and deteriorate to sludge, so now with this pond vac I think my pond will be amazingly improved and easier to maintain. My pond is natural shaped and about 10-12' diameter and 20" or so deep in center. Has a waterfall feature. Birds love it and now I have an easier way to maintain my pond health. I do leave some sludge on the bottom for proper eco balance of the pond. Very glad I purchased this pond vac. It was pretty easy to use, and cleaned up like a dream, I rinsed everything and cleaned the sponge that protects the motor, dry and then replace. Excellent product and so glad I decided to add this to my pond maintenance routine.THANK YOU HALF OFF PONDS!!!

Never worked, cannot return
This thing is a piece of garbage. Worked for 3 minutes when I first bought it then it would no longer suck. Thought it was the missing clip on the hose, so I had to fight to get a new hose. Return for the defective product would cost me the shipping fees for the large item and a restocking fee. In the meantime, had someone else clean my pond. 2 years later I need to vacuum the pond again. Put the new hose on...no suction. Call to troubleshoot with Half Off Ponds and they tell me to look for something to move and my product does not even have that piece! Too late for warranty repair now (my fault) so they offered me a refurbished product for $80. I am really not interested in paying this company more money when their products don't work. My fault for not using it often enough or fast enough to see if it worked after the new hose, but super disappointed with purchasing a product that does not work. It's also very basic for the cost. Basically a poor shop vac with a drain hose.

Intermittent cycle can be slow
This works really well but the intermittent cycle that it uses can be a bit slow. While using it, the motor would stop, I wait it would turn back on and then in about 10 feet it would stop again. I was going at a slower pace to avoid the settled algae from getting kicked up, but during the off cycle some return water would push it around. Other then that though it seemed to work well, and was easy to clean.

It works pretty good I like it 💗
The media could not be loaded. Works pretty good. The first picture is the after second picture is an area that I haven't done.He was easy to assemble, definitely watch the youtube video. The instructions are not as thorough as I'd like.It took me about 10-15 minutes to clear that spot off. Maybe about 10 minutes to hold everything down and hanging up to dry. If I could do that once a week I'm going to have a nice looking pond.It does shut down every 30 seconds to drain, nice little break. It didn't take too much water out of the pond so I didn't have to refill. I have a 1500 gallon pond. Suction was good enough it sucked up a little bit of the gravel in the sand but it was in the bottom of the bucket when I was through and I rinsed it and put it back in the pond.

Good for the price
If one had a small pond such as 300 gallons or less, this would be great as it only has a 10 or so gallon resevoir. However, it was purchased for 2500 split 3 level pond and it required lots of emptying. You have to suck it out, then turn off and blow water out a back side. Its a time consuming process but it does get the job done.
