Yes. It works out great if you like filing papers like that. I started printing chapters in a book I needed for a class that I'm taking. And just filed them in this organizer without punching holes in it to file in a binder. :)

I've had 50+ pages in a section, and it works great!

Q: Details indicate a 11.8 in. width. I would like to stand these up in a 12 in box on my desk. Is 11.8 the true width of these organizers?

I just measured mine and it's EXACTLY 11.8 inches in height and EXACTLY 10 inches in width. The thickness is just under 1/2 inch. Hope this helps. -- Barb

Q: Will this hold a thickness of up to 12" or more? I want to insert multiple product catalogues by category. The "spine" is confusing me.

I do not believe this would hold up to 12" at all. I would classify this as more of a small project holder. Mine holds about 2" on a daily basis and does just fine. The actual spine is only about 1/2" thick but stretches a bit when filled. Hope this helps!
