Great dashcam perfect for my car. I didn't need a super high tech one, as much as the app and stuff with other more expensive ones sounds great realistically I am only ever going to need to access anything from this in the event of an incident so I was happy to miss out on some of the features for a lower price. Very happy with it and it seems to work great. Haven't tested it at night but seems good during the day. Also useful to get the rear camera in the bundle. I did personally find the rear camera had a very long cable and I ended up with lots of extra to deal with, although I've also only got a small car so it might be necessary for others. Still easy enough to deal with and hide so not really complaining - better to have too much than too little! Overall very happy with this dashcam and from a trusted brand like Nextbase I'm confident it should last me well. Just for a side note though, remember to buy an SD card!!! It's completely my own fault as the product page does say it doesn't include one but I completely didn't think until after it arrived and I was ready to set it up, so make sure you buy one of them with it!

I chose this dash cam because it did not have lane assist and all the other useless bells and whistles that you find on the more expensive dash cams. I have a car which in common with most modern cars has this on anyway!I have used this dash cam as a rear facing camera on the rear windscreen which gives me 1080 p hd footage. I already have a hd front facing nextbase camera on the car. If i had bought a new front facing dash cam with a additional rear facing camera to get hd on both would have cost quite a bit more than i wanted to pay and i would have been saddled with the aforementioned bells and whistles which i do not need. In addition the installation was much simpler only needing to run the supplied power cable to USB socket in the boot, instead of running a cable to the front camera as required with the combined front/rear dash camHd footage from the camera is excellent day and night and i can use the nextbase software on my laptop to view both cameras

Because of its small size, the camera is barely noticeable behind the rear view mirror. Picture quality is very clear, especially when used with the polarising filter. You'll need to download the Nextbase app to view and save footage.The hardwire kit (available separately) frees up the 12v socket and is a much neater option, and is relatively simple to install, the only difficult part for me anyway was finding a suitable earth connection near the fuse box that would take a screw. in the end I improvised and fitted a small crocodile clip to the end of the earth wire and clipped it onto a metal plate beside the fuse box.

I bought the 222XR and 322GW dashcams, so this review covers some advanced points with hits and tips.The 222XR pack comes with the ‘Rear WINDOW Camera’ which connects to the front dashcam via a proprietary connector. The rear camera mount uses a 3M pad to affix to the window with the camera affixing to the mount using a strong magnet which makes angling it simple. Pro tip: this rear camera is compatible with 622GW, 522GW, 422GW, 322GW, it is NOT compatible with the 322GW which instead uses the ‘Rear VIEW Camera’ or ‘CABIN View Camera’ models. 222XR does not have GPS so it doesn’t overlay your location or speed on its recorded video.Picture quality of both camera is excellent and identical as far as I can see. Both take pictures as well as video and protect files automatically.Both come with two 3M adhesive pads affixed to small plastic ‘plates’, these are useful if you want to move your camera and mount between vehicles as you simply slide the ‘Click & Go Mount’ out.Pro tip: Although the ‘Click & Go Mount’ looks the same on both cameras the 322GW one additionally contains the GPS chip so for GPS to work you MUST use the 322GW with its mount.The dashcam itself is attached to the ‘Click & Go Mount’ using a strong magnet which makes removing the camera from the vehicle quick and simple, it’s also helped by the power going into the mount and not the camera so no fiddly reconnecting wires. You also get a tool to help you fit the cables and a ‘ferrite power cable attachment’ to stop electronical noise from your vehicle interfering with the camera. I bought this system because I wanted a simple, budget dashcam that was just plug & play without the need for a connection to the outside world. I like how easy it was to install and set up but obviously this partly depends on your vehicle interior trim. It does what it says on the tin and sprang into life as soon as it was charged up and slotted into the mount. The rear camera likewise. You simply turn on the ignition and leave it. Being a relatively low cost unit, it's unlikely to attract the attention of tea leaves, so I tend to just leave it in the mount unless being away from the car for some time. I didn't want fancy, just easy to use and reliable and that's exactly what it's proving to be. You pays your money and takes your choice.

Smaller footprint than the Nextbase 212 it replaced so easier to tuck-in behind the rearview mirror. Would have preferred a suction fitting rather than the adhesive patch supplied, as positioning the patch has to be right first time but it is neater.
