Good rich flavor with low salt

I have to make my dog’s food because he has so many allergies. I was buying chicken stock at the grocery and realized they had onion and garlic flavorings, which are toxic for dogs! This chicken stock is the only one I have found that is only pure chicken stock.

My husband doctored up the broth with a little onion powder and garlic powder and poured it piping hot into a large mug and it has worked wonders at soothing my throat.But, my real point of writing this review is to say that I love this broth for many reasons. Having a heart failure patient in the family who must eat a drastically low sodium diet, there is so much food that must be prepared from scratch. It is exhausting, but I would not have it any other way. Gone are the days of leisurely cooking stocks and stews. Breads are so high in sodium that I had to create bread recipes that had NO added salt or sodium. Everything must be researched and measured and added up. People have no idea what patients and their families have to go through with this progressive disease. Sorry! This stuff brings out the teacher in me!Anyway, we have found this broth to have a wonderful flavor. It is so convenient and adaptable to many dishes. I like to poach chicken breasts in it with added herbs. Of course it is a wonderful soup base, but it also adds flavor to cooked vegetables. Dicing up salt free homemade bread with herbs, adding diced celery and onion. Moistening the mix with unsalted butter and the broth made a delicious stuffing during the holidays. Cooking pasta or rice in the broth adds a lot to the texture and flavor.So, if one is switching to a low sodium diet, this broth might not seem as flavorful at first. But after our palate adapted to a lower sodium diet, you could taste the richer flavor in the broth. I also love it's convenience. It makes life easier for the cook and one doesn't have to spend hours and hours preparing low sodium broths, straining the ingredients, putting them in containers and taking up valuable freezer space. I just cannot say enough good things about this broth.We keep it in our pantry all the time! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have a cat who is on a special diet and this simple stock makes a great base for her food. Thank you Swanson for keeping this unsalted and onion free stock in production. This was my first time ordering it on Amazon, and the case arrived quickly and in excellent condition. The best if used by date is 9 months into 2017, and none of the boxes have leaks.Note: I noticed some reviews saying the individual stock boxes arrived unsealed. I think there can be confusion with this type of packaging, as simply twisting the lid for the first time drives cutters down into the seal, and if the seal then bends down under, it will look as if there had been no seal present at all. I thought the same thing the very first time I bought stock in one of these boxes. I have been buying this exact same product locally for over a year and haven't encountered any seal issues or spoiled stock.

Low salt content, great price, I use this in many dishes I perpare.

It is so hard to find chicken broth that does not have onions and garlic (no good for our dogs). They like this and that's what's important.

Use in soups

I know how to make stock, but it's a lot of work. I finally broke down and started trying premade stock. And I tried several brands. Swanson is by far the best. Best flavor and a good value. I use this always when making brown rice. It comes out perfect and flavorful. Other stocks I've tried have rendered the rice gummy, which is odd, because this never happens when I use Swanson or just plain water. Now it's a staple in my kitchen.
