A demonstrable Audiophile pressing!
This is a legitimate audiophile pressing of a classic. I'm very surprised this quality was put out by Geffen, without signifying it as anything special other than "remastered" (which these days, often means worse!). Normally you don't get this level of realism without marketing it as an audiophile pressing. I thought the previous, single disc pressing, done at Pallas in Europe, was amazing, and aside from some minor surface defects, I thought my pressing really felt like it placed you with the band. This new remaster/pressing makes it even more like you are in the room with the band, and you feel the whole room. It's a bit bizarre... we all know it is no longer possible to watch Nirvana live, and we know Kurt Cobain is dead, but as I listened to it I felt like I got to be physically present with the band performing in front of me. This is some kind of time warp. This impression is even stronger than it was with the Pallas pressing, and one of the most lifelike recordings I have. For those that know the album, I'm going to use this pressing as a demonstration album for my system. I am unsure where these discs were pressed, but they are dead quiet. I'd say generally quieter than most of my MFSL One-Step on "Supervinyl". I know it's cliche, but I know this album through and through and I noticed some nuance on this first listen that I had never listened on my previous 30. That happened several times. Now, there is one minor quibble... this is absolutely more accurate and far more nuanced than the previous releases, but it also feels just slightly bright at times. Certainly more so than the 2013 pressing. Perhaps in the end that edge is what helps make it more lifelike, but it was very slightly excessive a times (primarily just with the crowd). That minor thing aside, it is still far and away the version to have. The extra rehearsals on side 4 are also very fun... again, really makes you feel like you are with the band for their rehearsals, trying to figure out how to perform certain pieces. I love that they do Pennyroyal Tea as a duet in the rehearsal and afterwards someone says, "you should do that solo." Now we know why on the album Kurt asks, "Am I going to do this by myself?" Yes, it worked far better solo!

A DIFFERENT SIDE TO COBAIN & Co.
First of all , this album is absolutely amazing . Kurt , Dave and Kris revisit their usual electric , noise and rage-ladden material , plus a few covers , and treat them in a whole new way.The final result is as surprising as it is impressive .If you don't actually hear it , you wouldn't believe they did this . Now , while obviously the songs lack the immediate power of their electric stuff , one discovers a whole new world of Nirvana sounds and emotions . There's actually a glimpse of serenity in some of the songs , and , from what we hear here is difficult to imagine Cobain's suicide . But that is a different story altogether . Or maybe not .Musically , there's no low points here , but to me the best moments are :- "About a girl" , which opens the album beautifully and sets the mood for the entire session .- "The man who sold the world" - I'm a big Bowie fan , but I think Kurt does this one better than any version David Bowie ever did . Outstanding ! By the way , this is the only "electric" piece , but that doesn't change the serene , relaxed approach that is a constant throughout the album .- "Dumb" : in two minutes and some seconds , Cobain made me feel 1000 different feelings , sensations and emotions . For many reasons , I'll stay with this one as the highest peak . He could sing without words and the result would still be the same , the tone of his voice tells it all . A gem among gems .- " Oh me " : the same as above , but a little bit ( just a little bit )less shiver-making .- " Where did you sleep last night ? " : if this one doesn't make you feel pain , a feeling of loss , despair and/or nostalgia( either from personal experience or just from what Kurt is singing ) you better check your pulse , because most likely you're dead as a stone . Nirvana pay tribute to Leadbelly here , and giving the mood of the album , this is the perfect end , because as we all know , there was no happy end to Nirvana .

Remarkable sounding LP!
Amazon has taken good care of shipping vinyls and so far they have all arrived in excellent condition. After I open each new release, I wash it in a two stage process with a final distilled water rinse. This allows me to experience the vinyl exactly as it is. So many LP's still have surface noise and pops but Nirvana MTV Unplugged In New York was so nearly silent it was easy to forget it was a record. I've been let down far too many times with new vinyl releases the last couple years but this double Nirvana MTV Unplugged In New York was a real shocker. Very impressed with one. Just when I start losing faith in records, one springs up and get's me excited again. The clarity, the openness of the soundstage, the actual condition of the vinyl. Love it all. Demo worthy if you plan to show off your record collection without all the side effects of bad vinyl.
