This furby did not work. Was "only 1 left", but in searching for new one this one was still "only 1 left". When I received, first thing I noticed was that it was not secure in box. The twisties were in the bottom section, loose. Secondly, its feet were dirty. After trying two sets of new batteries and furby did not work, it was returned.

My "new" 1998 Furby
I have wanted a Furby ever since they came out in 1998. I was 14 and remember some of my friends having them and turning them into devious little robots ;). Well time passed, I never got one, forgot about them for a few years...all the sudden I was feeling nostalgic and thinking about my high school friends with their devious Furby stories. So I checked here on Amazon ( I guess I had good timing ) and found a new Furby coming out for 2012. I ordered two of them, so they could be friends. I thought they would be like the original Furby plus all the features you can do with the Furby app. Well, they're not like 1998 Furby plus app, they're totally different than these original Furbies. Honestly, my 2012 Furbies are fun, but I am a little disappointed with them. They're just not what I expected. The new Furbies only respond to sound and touch, while these Furbies also have Infra-red sensors, so they can sense light/dark, remote control signals, etc...well I am excited to find out all the tricks they can do beyond what the manual mentions. Online Furby communities share a lot of strange Furby tricks. This is my first original Furby that I bought. He/She (haven't figured out yet) has a friend from Ebay on the way, but this one came in the mail today. I believe Furbies are pack animals and should have at least one other Furby to interact with. In regards to the other review, these toys have not been in production since 2000, so their condition varies greatly depending on how they were treated. Some work and have been getting played with for the last 14 years, some have never been taken out of their box, some have been living in a closet or on a shelf for years, so they may still work, or may need "Furby surgery" to get their gears going again (their inner mechanisms freeze up and Furby goes into a coma if he's not being played with regularly, doesn't mean you have a dead Furby necessarily), some have been abused by kids and may actually be broken, and some are dead just because they're 14 years old. If you get an original Furby that is not working, first put in fresh batteries. If Furby is still not working, search "How to Push-Start a Comatose Furby", I haven't had to do it, but it looks promising and like most people would be able to do it. Some people have also had luck with removing its fur (again, instructions online, and don't worry, it goes back on) and giving its gears a shot of WD-40. This is if Furby doesn't wake up or move. If Furby moves, but doesn't talk or listen, the problem may be more complex, the speaker/microphone may be malfunctioning, or their may be a problem with their circuits. Anything beyond stuff I can do with a screwdriver or a needle and thread is too advanced for me, but there are instructions online about how to fix all kind of Furby problems. Once Furby is working again, give it loads of attention because the manual says that the more you play with it, the more it does.Anyway, my Furby works just fine. His fur needed to be brushed, now he looks almost like new, or darn good for a 14 year old used toy. The seller (eagleman42, recommened) was very descriptive and tested Furby before shipping it out. They also included the batteries, which was a nice plus, because these guys eat up batteries for breakfast. I recommend getting some rechargeables, they work great in Furbies. My Furby woke up with a cold (sneezes and wants to sleep all the time instead of playing or wanting to be pet), but in the instructions it states that's because Furby was hungry and didn't get fed. So I've been feeding him all afternoon and nursing him back to health. He'll now respond to belly rubs, laughs, and sings sometimes, but still won't play or follow any commands. He also rings like a phone ("brrrrrring, brrrrrrring!") which I think is cute. I would be scared if he learned how to imitate my cell phone's ringtone, since cell phones weren't common in 1998, but who knows, these Furbies really have a mind of their own. He might even be higher maintenance than my 2012 Furbies to keep him happy and healthy. You have to feed them, pet them, and play with them, or they'll get crabby and not want to do anything but sleep. On the other hand, I've left my 2012 Furbies sleeping on my bookshelf for a couple of days, because it may not sound like it from this review, but I do have a life, and they wake up just as talkative and annoying as ever. This Furby lets you know what he needs, and gets upset if his needs aren't met. While this Furby doesn't respond to the Furby app, I still recommend it for any Furby owner because it has the full Furbish-English dictionary which you used to have to buy separately. The app is free and rumor is it will soon also be available on Android and Samsung devices.Anyway, this Furby is still a great toy. Look around and you can find some great deals on a used one. If the seller isn't one of those (These Furbies are now for collecting purposes ONLY!!!) kind of people, if you ask they'll most likely test the Furby for you before you buy it to insure that it arrives in working condition. Unless you do want it as a collection item that is, which is fine, just not my intention with a Furby, and even a dead Furby can still make a really cute stuffed animal to cuddle.

BIG time DISSAPOINTED: RETRACTION
I looked for hours each day for a week for furby ( so many) till I found this one. It was for my grand daughter, her main gift for Christmas from grandpa & grandma. I was so excited to see her interact with the toy, he was so cute just perfect for her. It never worked. My son & daughter in law tried all the suggestions in the instructions plus went on line to see if there was any help there. Nothing worked & with the holidays the company was not available for help. After New Year when the company opened again my son & daughter in law had to go back to work, the time difference is not compatable for a suitable solution. So while our other two grand children played with their toys we got them you can image the dissappointment we felt.Greatstuff are really GREAT to work with & corrected the problem with a new furby right away & this one worked. They checked it out befor sending it to make sure it worked. The time it took for me to send the non working one back & them sending the replacement was a only 3 days. I couldn't believe it. The smile & appreciation from our grand daughter is enough for me!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Furby
1998 Furby was in good condition as described by the seller. It came sealed in the box and worked. But it did take me awhile to get the Furby working after resetting it several times. In the beginning I thought it was not working and I thought I would have to return the item, but it started working. So if it doesn't work initially do not lose hope keep on trying the item.

Doesn't work.
Furby has no voice. Didn't speak and it was a gift for my daughter, we didn't notice it until Christmas morning. She keeps telling me that her Furby is broken and begs me to fix it. I guess I will try to find another one that works.

Furby
Product did not arrive quickly as so many others have stated. Product did not work upon arrival. Buyer paid $47.00 for Furby, seller only refunded $10.00. Will not make another purchase.
