365 by Whole Foods Market, Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix, 16 Ounce

This cake mix has a taste and texture the closest to wheat flour that I have found anywhere. It is delicious. It does require a few different ingredients than standard cake mixes, so check the directions to ensure you have everything on hand. It easily removes from the cake pan. I did notice that the sides of the cake baked more quickly than the top of the cake, but I had poured extra batter in (see photo). It was easy to ice. Everyone loved it.

I bought it specifically because it is gluten free, I take care of my children's health, the dough is good, but very sweet, too much for my taste.

Most Gluten free cake mixes make one very dense layer. This mix makes 2 layers, which are delightfully light! Could be a bit sweeter, but that's personal taste. And....after a few days, was not dry as dust! The only other GF cake mix that makes the grade is " Pil*sbu*ry". And it's more expensive, and for some reason harder to find this year!

This yellow cake mix was obviously modeled after the King Arthur Yellow gluten free cake mix - even the instructions are the same. But the KA mix is superior. This one is a bit dry and grainy. Both mixes are not the dump-everything-into-the bowl-and-mix kind - this is a multi-step procedure, requiring that you pay attention, so I expected a better cake.

I bought this mix because a few of my don's friends cannot have wheat/gluten and I didn't want them to miss out at the party. I am a notoriously picky eater and when I tested this one to make sure I felt comfortable serving them I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and texture. I think this will be my go-to for cupcakes. (*this is the yellow mix but I used black food coloring to match the party theme)

Bought to make my brother a birthday cake as he has celiac disease. My entire family enjoyed this moist flavorful cake.
