Helped mask an incredibly bad highlight job
I had my hair professionally highlighted yesterday and it was ridiculously patchy and uneven. Used this product and it did a fair job of coating the lightest parts of my hair so that they would blend with the rest. As a bonus, it covered some of my gray! (Before and after pics included)

Easy to apply, looks good and seems to last - but some itching scalp..
Changed ad from 5 to four stars. Works as well as first described but also find my scalp itches in a way it did not before. Hair doesn't seem to be dried out, so some concern that chemicals may be creating the effect. Makes me hesitant to continue using. On the other hand, it's worked very well. I'd been using henna and indigo - not removable safely -- and wanted to let gray grow in but cover gray roots until it was longer. Left this on longer than they recommended -- about an hour and a half -- so don't know if that made any difference, but my multicolor white/gray/gold/reddish/brown hair came out a consistent, natural looking medium brown with just a bit of warmth in the color. Hair was also in good condition. Done at least 4 washes and tho color is lighter but still covering well.

Very Happy with the Results
I have only had my hair colored in a salon before today. I used the Ash Brown, I have 3" long light gray/white/silverish roots and the rest of my hair is brown. I had washed my hair yesterday so I put it on dry hair. I left it on for 25 minutes and then rinsed it off in the shower. I used a color protecting shampoo and then conditioner. The effect was to darken the grays to a streaky and believable blondish brown. It got all the resistant grays around my hairline and it totally doesn't look like a dye job. I only used a half of this little bottle so I have another application. It is neat to use because it doesn't run unnecessarily, but I made sure I wore an old button front shirt and old dark towels. I used gloves to separate my hair and press it into my roots trying to avoid the existing brown, but even though I couldn't see what I was doing, it came out great. I might even use a little darker shade sometimes. But I do like the variegated effect that the Ash Brown left and I can see now I don't have to be afraid of how it will turn out. I could even use it on roots as soon as they appear and use only a little at a time. So easy.

Works ok
The color is nice but it doesn't last long. Probably 5-6 shampoos. Also, if you have long hair, you might want to get two bc it's a very small bottle.

Toned medium brown hair
This was perfect for basically toning my hair from a medium red based brown to a medium ash based brown. My hair had only one application of completely faded semi permanent color and before that natural hair. This removed the left over reddish hints from the previous dye and helped blend my naturally light and ashy roots in much better. 4 stars because the instructions are very minimal and my towel dried hair was more dry at the root. On that dryer area I can see where I squeezed out a line of color, but not enough to be noticeable from a few feet away. Since it’s a color that washes out slowly, I’m sure the line will fade away. (Tried to add a before n after side-by-side, but it seems photos have been taken off as a review feature.

Bottle Wasn’t Full/Didn’t Color My Hair
I usually use Clairol Advanced Gray Solution. Most of the hair supply stores are closed so I had to settle for this. I had 4” cut off during my last salon visit so I’m working with less hair. I only got 3/4 of my head done before the bottle started spitting. Thank God my hair was cut or I wouldn’t have been able to finish my entire head. I ALWAYS have color left over when I’m done so the fact that I didn’t make it through my entire head, leads me to believe my bottle wasn’t full. The Advanced Gray Solution and this bottle are both the same size. Disappointed😏 I just washed it out and the color didn’t take. I don’t know what was in this bottle but it wasn’t hair dye. I wasted my money.

Doesn't last super long, but easy to use & softens hair
This is the easiest dye I've used. It is just applied to the hair and left in for a bit and washed out. I don't know how, but it makes gray hair softer.I usually only let it sit about 10 minutes or so, but I use it 2 to 3 times a week. I put it on as soon as I step in the shower & I use a comb to apply throughout hair. I shave and such and then I shower normally ending in washing my hair. It doesn't take much more time than I normally need to shower so it's super convenient. It washes out slowly - quicker from gray hairs, but it will last a week although noticeably lighter. It doesn't seem to cause any damage to my hair, but I have sort of short hair. It's my favorite dye, but it is a little expensive due to how often I apply it.
