The best licorice toffee EVER!!!
I first tried this licorice when a friend brought me a gift from her trip to England a few years ago. I truly love this licorice and was so glad to find Moreton Gifts on Amazon. My last experience with another UK company was very disappointing since the package never arrived. (But I got a refund.) I ordered 5 bags from Moreton and they arrived as scheduled. It does take a few weeks for shipments from the UK to Florida, but it was worth the wait. And I loved the customer service I received from them by following up with an email to see if the package arrived ok. Although I never tried the Callard and Bowser licorice that everyone seems to rave about, I can tell you that the Walker's licorice toffees have an incredibly smooth texture and a pure licorice flavor. Far superior to any other I've tried. Thank you Moreton. You made me very happy today!!

OH! YESSSS!!!
It's been about ?15 years since I had the Callard and Bowser licorice toffee which was discontinued. Since then I have sampled other licorice sweets hoping for something approximating it; have had my share of disappointing Callard and Bowser "alikes". Was disappointed with licorice "caramels" (too soft and sweet) and other licorice "toffee" candies purporting to be like the Callard and Bowser I recall so wistfully.Walkers has got it right. Like the C&B, these Nonsuch Licorice are quite firm and an absorbing, satisfying chew, but they soften up nicely after a bit. They are very nicely licorice-y flavored. My recollection is that the C&B toffees had more of a buttery/salty note, but there's nothing wrong with these Walkers Nonsuch licorice toffees. They are all kinds of good.

Delicious Licorice Toffee
I think this is delicious. Is it as good as Callard & Bowers? Not sure since you can't make a side by side decision.I will definitely be buying this Licorice again.Never found another as good so far. I've been looking for ever for a replacement.

Excellent flavor - absolute BEST licorice toffee on the market today
I grew up with my Grandmother always having Callard & Bowser licorice toffee. Walkers Nonsuch is the absolute best one on the market today in comparison. I've tried many brands, but the Walkers Nonsuch Licorice toffee is the best! They have made a lifetime customer out of me, and I've ordered this a few times now. Be aware that the item ships from Great Britain, and will take a few weeks to arrive if you live in the USA. My sister ordered some just prior to Christmas, and it didn't arrive until the end of February - understandable because of the holidays. This last time, I ordered on March 5th, and had it by March 15th.

My father loved them, and he is extremely hard to please ...
I bought this product primarily for my father, who used to order a similar product from Callard & Bowser's. We have tried for years to find the original product, but were told that C & B no longer makes it. When I read the reviews for Walkers Nonsuch Licorice Toffees, I was sold. Everyone who ordered these licorice toffees rated them four-five stars, and said they were the closest in taste to Callard & Bowser's, out of every other licorice from every other company they had tried. They were right! My father loved them, and he is extremely hard to please when it comes to trying a product that is similar to--but not exactly the same--as something he has liked and bought for years. I will be ordering this product again soon, and I look forward to trying other products they offer, as well.

Perfect Black Licorice
The best black licorice since the other one that everyone is talking about on here went out of business. I used to buy that one at The Crescent in Spokane, Washington and was so sad when I could no longer find it. This one is the same, it is to wait for and well worth the wait from overseas!! Mine took 2 1/2 weeks to come, not a month as others say!! Order a lot, the 5 bag deal- your going to want it!!

Great Toffee's
I lived in England over 40 years ago and still have vivid memories of eating Callard & Bowsers English Toffee in those little foil wrapped wafers and they were so good. I recently went on a search for a valid replacement and after reading the reviews, settled in on Walkers Nonsuch Licorice Toffees and ordered five bags. I haven't tried any other competitors yet for comparison, but they were very good. I honestly can't compare to a memory over forty years old, but still, these are great. I have given them to my family and friends, some of which have had the original Callard & Bowsers, and have not had a negative reaction yet. Regardless of the memory, these are great toffee's.

Great Taste! But some like 'em Hard, some like 'em Soft
First off, I agree with the many reviewers who say that it's the closest thing to the taste of Callard & Bowser. However I've always thought of 'toffee' as being chewy, not a hard candy. When I looked up toffee I found "Origin of toffee: later British form of taffy".So when I made my first purchase (2 bags of Walkers Nonsuch Licorice Toffees) they were much harder than I expected, but I was still able to bit them in half (or bite into one and pull away the other half) and then suck on the piece until it softened in my mouth to a point where it was chewable. Despite the semi-hardness, they were really, really, really good! So good in fact that my Husband who Hates black licorice (even Anise flavor) decided to try one because he said I seemed to be enjoying them so much ... and he really likes them too! Those 2 bags were gone in 2 days.I saw a vendor offering 5 bags and purchased them which is the basis for the current review, and I was surprised and quite disappointed to discover that these toffees were in fact rock hard. I tried biting into a piece and pulling the other half off and was sure I'd lose a crown if I continued. I don't know why there was such a difference from one to the other but it's made me think twice about ordering more. I even wrote to the company (Walkers Nonsuch Limited) to ask about proper storage and ways to soften them up, but never received a reply.I guess I'll have to keep hoping for someone to duplicate C&B's original recipe.
