Cool light, no ac adapter. Still gets five stars for the quality per dollar spent.
Its definitely a cool little light. I haven't put to many hours on it but everything seems to be working accordingly and the remote is a real cool added feature. I am currently running this, the YN-300 III, as my Fill Light with the YN-600 (daylight only) with a softbox defuser as my Key Light and have no complaints, especially since I am only in it for around $250. The reason I am writing this review however, is because I looked all over Amazon to find out whether this came with the ac adapter and the only thing I could find was a review that said it DID come with. Unfortunately, that is not the case so unless you want to run batteries in it all the time then I suggest you also order the plugin.

WOW! This light is super bright and I love it.
I just bought this light and love it so much that I have already ordered another one. I even plan to buy a 3rd one at some point for a 3 point lighting set up using only these lights. The light is super bright. Actually, it's good that it has a dimmer switch because 6 feet from the subject on full power is way to bright. I'm sure once I add 2nd one that it will be plenty for interview style lighting with both dimmed down a little. I purchased the non-Sony brand batteries which are the DSTE® NP-F970 Batteries. I got two and a charger for $44 on prime. So the light and two batteries were $110 total on prime which I find to be a good value. I don't know at this point how long the batteries will hold up but the nice thing is that I have a backup battery by owning two of them. The only thing that I don't like about the batteries is the charger which needs to go in a strip rather than the wall because the battery is so heave. This light is a great buy with built in barn doors and a remote control.

High Quality Lighting Kit with Great Value
I have been looking for - if not the perfect, then at least the closest thing to it - lighting solution for shooting video. My first purchase was the Neewer CN-304 light, then I bought the Venidice Pro Series 198 LED, and now this Yongnuo YN300 III. Out of the three of them, I am most impressed with the Yongnuo. There was nothing wrong with the Neewer light, but there wasn't anything to get excited about either. That is not the case with the Yongnuo YN-300. The first thing I noticed about the Yongnuo product is workmanship. These lights (I bought two) are very well made, and are made with quality parts. Although lightweight, it feels like it is solidly built - that goes for the component pieces as well. This is an important feature since I want to make sure the product will last over time. The main reason I returned the Venidice lights is because they flickered on and off with every touch - they seemed cheaply made - a sure indication they wouldn't last long. The second thing that impressed me with the Yongnuo lights was their brightness - which is very important unless you plan to have the light inches away from your subject. The brighter the light, the farther away from the subject the light can be placed. With the Venidice lights, the light was somewhat dim and needed to be very close to the subject in order for it to be properly illuminated. Thirdly, I was delighted to find that the Yongnuo lights provide a number of essential extras. Although it does not include batteries or a battery charger, it does include a remote control so the lights can be operated in tandem and from a distance(!), a handle - which feels solidly built - for both handheld use, as well as easy placement on a lighting stand, and lastly, the kit includes a small shelf stand to place the lights in small places, such as a bookshelf, which can come in handy for creating creative lighting options. Lastly, I was also impressed that this package includes barn doors for the lights, which enable the user to more narrowly focus the light and provides more creative lighting options. Of course the light also includes temperature controls and there is an app to download to enable the user to control the lights from a smartphone. On the downside, the barn doors are not detachable and therefore, using a soft box or color gels is somewhat difficult, if not impossible.

Purchased two! Bright, dependable. Screenshot included in review.
Better than expected, extremely bright. Bought two! Using one as a key-light and one as a fill (see attachment screenshot). Bought the SB300 Softbox Diffuser for YONGNUO YN300 III II,YN300 Air LED Video Light Panel Foldable Portable Soft Filter to utilize with the provided diffusion gels in the box. Still very bright after diffusion at about six feet away from a subject. For me, using the DSTE 2x NP-F750 Battery + DC01 Travel and Car Charger Adapter for Sony CCD-TRV215 CCD-TR917 CCD-TR315 HDR-FX1000 HDR-FX7 HVR-V1U HVR-Z7U HVR-Z5U Camera as NP-F730 NP-F770, the lights will last only three hours of typical use. Charging takes a good 12 hours each. I bought four batteries so I can use both lights on longer shoot days. Worked well with Emart Light Stand, 6.2ft Photography Stands for Photo Video Studio, Background, HTC Vive, Softbox, Reflector, etc. (2 Pack).

model mistake, got the 5500K version and not the 3200K-5500K dual version as ordered
ok what 'i hate' is not the light. the thing is amazing. it's the mistake made and now must order it again hoping i get the good version. the iphone app works like a charm, the remote (no batteries included) works perfectly. the light is light :) it's amazing guys, get this, game changer in how small, light, bright and CHEAP it is. built well, i dind't expect anything else. dont drop it and it will last you. back to my problem - I DID order the 3200-5500 variable light but received a version 5500K only. the buttons on the back have different functions but same layout, see photo. now one thing i want to test. the name YN300 means 300 leds. in the dual version it's 150 LED's for 3200K and 150 LED's for 5500K.. but before returning the 5500k only version - I want to compare if it is actually brighter than the dual color version. since all 300 LED's on my 'mistake version' put out the light of 5500K, it shoudl be theoretically twice as bright as the 150LED's output of 5500K on the dual version. will report, ordered the other one, should receive it tmrw
