Q: how do you use the wire metal thing ? What's it do?

I think it's purpose is to keep the jar elevated to allow the jar the drain excess water. The seeds should not be sitting in water or else they will mold.

Q: I purchased the broccoli sprout jar and does it matter how much water...just says 2 tb seeds in water for 4 hours to start?

You need a wide mouth mason jar for the top to screw on. Then put the seeds in and cover them with water overnight to soak. The next few days you need to turn it upside down and drain all the water and several times a day until day 3-4 when they have tails. Should cover the bottle with a towel to give them darkness

Q: How many batches can you make from the amount of seeds provided?

I think I made 3 or 4 batches -- then bought a bag of seeds from Country Creek Seeds that should last a year.

Q: Does this kit include a jar? - it does not show a jar in the pictures.

It did when I bought it but it now shows it is not included. It says lid will fit any wide mouth jar. Click on the little pictures under the picture of the kit.
