Another Great Book in the Mr. and Miss. series
My granddaughter loves all the Mr. and Miss Books. We started by giving her the old ones her Dad read when he was a boy. Now we buy her some out of the series for special occasions. We know that she will love the new ones too. She is sitting with me now and says she loves how smart Little Ms. Brainy is. These fun to read books always have a moral to them hidden in the humor.

A mysoginistic look at female intellect
There are many great books in the Mr Men & Little Miss series, but I am sad to say this is not one of them. From start to finish, at no point in the story of Little Miss Brainy is there any true display of her brilliance or event demonstrating that women are capable of being smart in a meaningful way. There is even an image that essentially shows a pig on top of Little Miss Brainy while she lies on her back. While the context is that the pig has jumped out of a tree & used her as a cushion (not positive behavior towards women to begin with), the image out of context is obviously unflattering towards women. She is later abused by an elephant & her life is threatened by a lion. This story could have had ANYTHING happen that showcases something beautiful for little girls to look up to, but instead Little Miss Brainy is depicted as a simpleton know-it-all who gets her comeuppance. This book should be edited by the publisher to make intelligent women be great in society. Not suggested for any child who hopes to have a sense of self worth beyond being arm candy to an old British man.

Great read for a 3 year old.
We love British children's literature and the Little Miss and Mr. Men books are no exception. Great story lengths for our almost 3 year old, and more importantly, good morals.
