Amazing scanner!!!!!!
Just received our scanner. Will be using it to scan prescriptions to keep a digital copy on file in our shop. After the first initial hour of use I can only say the following:1. Installation was EASY2. The device is very compact, I love it! Who would even think it performs the way it does being so small.3. This scanner scans like it's on steriods (in a good way)! It's very FAST. Almost too fast, sheets can get a little "cluttered" from time to time. But honestly I do not care, I might need to get the hang of it also.4. From what I noticed so far scan quality is pretty good to (only done color pdfs). I have it on the lowest setting to preserve some hard disc space and they still come out very good.In due time I will try and update this review, but from what I've seen so far. BIG WINNER! Thanks Kodak.

Blazingly fast, but not as user-friendly as the Fujitsu ScanSnap
I've used the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 for about 6 months now, and it's the only scanner I can compare to the Kodak i2800. I have a small home office and use the ScanSnap (and tested this Kodak i2800) for both business and personal use. This Kodak scanner won out for speed. It really churns out the images, so if you have to scan a lot every day, this may be a good buy - if you don't mind the lack of good user-friendly software. It comes with its own software, plus third-party software (PaperPort and OmniPage), none of which measure up to the intuitive, user-friendly software that Fujitsu has for its ScanSnap. I tweaked the Kodak settings for hours and it's still not performing as well as the ScanSnap did out of the box. For example, the ScanSnap automatically adjusts for the size of the receipt, so it scans and saves only what's needed. Even after tweaking, the Kodak doesn't. The ScanSnap Organizer software is much more intuitive than any of the Kodak software, making saving and filing significantly easier. (Scanning is only half the battle - being able to find it later is just as important.)All that said, the scanner itself is a quality product. Like I mentioned before, it scans very fast, much faster than the ScanSnap. It expands out to handle larger papers, but has a smallish footprint when not in use (great for keeping your desk uncluttered). I would've been able to rate this higher if the software measured up to the hardware. But it doesn't, and at this price (around $1,500), it should. I'm sticking with my slower, but more user-friendly and less expensive (under $500) Fujitsu ScanSnap.

My i2800 has had repeated software problems integrating with windows ...
My i2800 has had repeated software problems integrating with windows 10. I have had to unstall and reinstall software, including several bundles of complicated patches, several times. Each support session requires HOURS on the phone. and you may have to wait a day or two for a call back. . The kind but ineffective support technician was unable to remote into my computer after repeated attempts when recently, the i2800 scanner started given an error message indicating a jam when there was clearly no jam, but it could not scan. Kodak Alaris took 5 days to send a replacement scanner which put me at a standstill. The replacement scanner arrived today and is producing the same exact jam error code, so this is clearly a software issue. Research on the internet indicates that this is a KNOWN software issue. When I called back this evening, everyone was gone for the day. At this point, I cannot encourage anyone to buy a product from Kodak.

Lots of processing offloaded to software
I'm a heavy user of the Canon DR-M160, and I was looking to branch out with other brands and models. I had heard good things about this Kodak scanner. The hardware is nicely-designed. But the rated speeds for scanning do not match real-world use when actually scanning large batches of documents, because after the scanning itself is finished, the PC then needs to go in and do quite a bit of processing before the documents are done. It ends up slowing you down significantly. Also, IMO the software is confusing and poorly-designed. By contrast, the DR-M160 does almost all the processing in the hardware, so that it consistently delivers scans pretty close to the rated speeds. I'm just using the Canon scanner as a comparison. There are plenty of problems with it too, but on the whole I'll stick with it compared to the Kodak i2800.

Good but quite expensive
In the past 2 years we have ordered 19 of these scanners for various business needs. Of those 19, 1 has malfunctioned and required warranty service. The warranty was very smooth and they sent a refurbished scanner as replacement.Things to note, for heavy volume these things do gum up as one would expect. They will require regular cleaning/maintenance which is actually pretty easy.I would say they are pretty reliable overall. I am rating them at 4 stars because they are really expensive. For me its hard to justify the price, but the choice is not in my hands. I Just do the ordering and installing!

Inconveniently placed power switch
My company got me this scanner to replace an older Kodak scanner. The scan quality is good. However, my main complaint about this scanner is that the power button is in the back. Considering the fact that it automatically powers off after a short period of time, it is annoying to have to constantly reach around to the back and push the power button to turn it back on. I did not receive any instruction manual with this so maybe there is a way to increase the amount of time before it powers off. I have also had problems with the rollers pulling the paper in crooked. I've had the machine for almost 2 years so maybe that's just wear and tear. However, I have to say I liked the older scanner better because it did not power off all the time.
