Uhmm, the CPU works as described.
I really like how fast this cpu shipped and the fact it worked (so far) straight out of the container it was shipped in. The CPU was located inside a plastic container and wrapped very carefully (or so it seems long story short), and once I put it into the computer it worked very well. I just have to say this: you have to make sure you know what you're doing before buying this CPU. You have to fulfill 2 pre-requisites: (1) have built at least once computer from "scratch" before (2) make sure the CPU fits the socket of the computer you have -- meaning fitting onto the motherboard of the computer you have. Since it doesn't come in the original box per say, you don't have instructions or anything that comes with the CPU. It is ONLY the CPU and no paperwork or anything else. Just the CPU. Sincerely, the reviewer.

Great upgrade for my older Intel 1156 pga board!
I replaced an i5 2.6 GHz with this renewed i7 2.93. Installed easily and quickly. I am using the stock intel fan. System powered up then checked bios and verified the cpu. Win 10 OS loaded quickly and I notice right away the faster speeds! Played a quick game of Bejeweled on max settings. Very fast and smooth! I checked temps and cores are between 45 and 50C which is fine. I do not overclock preferring stability. Considering new i7 for an 1156 pga still go for around 4-500 dollars this was a great buy at $80.

Still has power for to boost your old setup.
One of our first builds we did had the i5 860 and we just didn't want to storage it if we can still get the best out of it. So we ended up upgrading to the i7 870 along with upgrading the gpu from 2gb to 6gb and the results were amazing. For an older type build this setup still has a lot more power to push with that new CPU. Well worth the upgrade id say. Everything worked out at the end.

Faulty Unit
System crashes and instability when operating at higher loads. Would recommend buying used cpu from trusted ebay seller. Don't use this seller.

Read this if planning to upgrade from i3 to i7 with integrated H57 graphics
I'm posting this review of my experience in the hopes it may help someone else. I was a little skeptical about purchasing a refurbished CPU. However, the part arrived well packaged in bubble wrap through the mail days earlier than was estimated. Everything looked in good shape. However, I could not make it work in my system. I just got three beeps on startup and no video. I returned the item through Amazon and the expect the refund to go through without issues. This is no fault of the seller and I would try refurbished again in the future. After additional research today, I have learned that some motherboards with integrated H57 chip graphics will require an external graphics card for use with i7 CPUs. Apparently, the i7 CPU cannot support the integrated graphics. This was NOT CLEAR from reviewing the HP upgrade information for my PC model. It simply states that the motherboard MS-7613 (lona-GL8E) supports i7-8xx. However, when I further looked at the graphics section there is a small clue stating "Integrated graphics using Intel H57 chipset (when compatible CPU is installed)". It took me quite some time to find the root cause of my failure online, so I'm posting it here in case it can help someone else. Since I was upgrading an older PC, I didn't want to invest in another graphics card. However, I believe the system would have probably worked if I did.

Cpu loose in box
I think the CPU itself is running well and seems to work. I just was very unsatisfied with how it wasn't secured properly in the box. It could have bounced around a lot while shipping because it had come loose. The good thing is, it works... for now. I also hope that it didn't cut the life span of the cpu because of it. I hope it was just a random fluke and they secure anyone's cpu better in the future.

CPU not secured for shipment
I gave it two stars, just because it arrived in a small box, CPU was out of it's protective plastic case, just flopping around inside. Didn't install it on the motherboard, yet, so I can't comment on how it works. I would think that the seller would do a much better job securing CPU for shipment!

My OS misreported the processor
Initially my operating system misreported the processor, but I confirmed in the BIOS that it was correct. Fast shipping etc and works as intended.
