Best hair cliper for our needs.
It’s small, it’s powerful, and it’s a great price. It seems like it’s built to last and so far there is no problems with it.I choice the Pilot because I was looking for a hair clipper that my girlfriend could use on me. It needed a few basic requirements:1) light weight2) doesn't vibrate a lot3) small4) powerful enough to get through my hair, which a lot of consumer grade hair clippers can't do very well.It meet those needs excellently. The rotary motor was especially smooth, while being light weight and powerful. It was very comfortable for my girlfriend to hold, as well as for myself, even though my hands are on the larger side, and hers are fairly dainty. The blade on this is also interchangeable with the fuller sized wahl hair clippers, as well as the attachments that can be attached to the blade. This is nice since I don’t have to worry about replacement parts since I feel this clipper can last me a long time.It never got too hot to use, it was actually cooler than the consumer grade products. It does need to be cleaned and oiled for proper maintenance, but it’s easy to do, the oil is cheap, and if you really wanted to be lazy, there are sprays you can use for this purpose to be even easier.Everything you really need came in the box to start using it right away. I would recommend in time you purchase the cleaners and lubricants that you want to use for maintenance as the ones that come in the box are more of a trail size, but they still work. There is nothing I dislike about this hair clipper, even the cord has a nice feel and is way more than long enough. My only minor compliant is that there is no mentioning of the exact sizes of the clipper combs (which are 1/16" 3/16" 1/8" 1/4" 3/8"1/2" 3/4" 1" if I remember correctly) and the size I happened to like the most wasn't part of the set that came in the package. Honestly that is a minor compliant, and not worth removing a star since this is a professional product, and you would already have all the combs anyway, and they are easy enough to buy. I just happened to switch which size I use, and really the size is almost the same so I don't care, and I'm not going to buy more combs just to have a more perfect size.It does have the taper lever but that is more advanced than I have learned so far, but maybe one day I'll get there.Update June 2021: This was purchased Dec 2014, so 6.5 years now. Absolutely no issue with this clipper, except the 50% price increase I noticed when going to write an update. I just keep it clean with the little brush that came in the box and oil it with the Wahl Professional Blade Oil. Yes it says animal on it, but it is the same product, and at that time I purchased it, it was the cheapest. I still haven't gotten around to purchasing more combs, but that is from laziness and changes in my life. I've just been going one size under what I would prefer to use. I have nothing to add except that it has outlived my friends consumer grade clippers twice over (if not thrice now). It is only used on my hair, stored in the original box, so this is in no way a review for commerical use, like this product was designed to be used in.

Pilot clippers
Received new, unused in the package, everything works, love that they are lightweight and durable as well. I love Wahl products. These are my go to clippers for cutting hair, the Pilot are super lightweight, you can cut for hair for hours. The motor is strong. I definitely recommend these clippers to anyone that is getting into Barbering

Perfect for do-it-yourself haircuts
I love the small size with the professional blades and motor , the noise level the clippers put out is no less or no greater then your average clippers, if you keep the blades clean and oiled after each use they should last a long long time. I use a number 2 and buzz my head all the way around, also out of the box the blades are perfectly aligned if you want to trim your beard down before a shave without cutting yourself.

Good Smaller Clipper
I ordered this as a Christmas gift for my father. He is 81 years old and always cuts his own hair, which he keeps very short. I chose this clipper because it's smaller and lighter than others. I thought it would be easier for my father to use. He seems quite pleased with them. Typical of Wahl products, this item is well made and reliable. It will last for years if properly cleaned and maintained. Overall, a good purchase.

Easy to use on beards
Got these to trim beards, older clients have a hard time lifting their jaw upward so it's easy to get underneath where the larger clipppers collide with the chest. They are not super powerful for professional use and you have to keep oiling the blades during use, I have not cut hair with them as I use a vacuum system. But they are nice, quiet and light. They do not pull during cutting so motor is at least that strong. So. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Loved em, powerful
I got these, Loved em, powerful, quiet, light and easy. I realized that I would still need a closer trim around the ears and neck so I returned them for the magic clip v900. I wish I kept the pilot, I know why they're a bit more expensive now. They definitely feel like they're better quality clippers, they are butter smooth and glide through hair cleaner and faster than the v900 motor. The only thing is, if you are cutting close to the skin, and like a razor sharp blade, these may not be the tool for you. UPDATE! After thorough use for a full year, I will say this...these clippers are not great for skin fades or bald fades. You cannot zero gap these clippers, and you cannot get a super tight bald fade. If your cutting your own hair and you don't want a close to "bald" fade, these will be fantastic, but if you like a skin tight fade, your better off with the magic clip, or the five star legend.

Great for cutting your own hair
Purchased this Pilot clipper to replace an aging Wahl "Homecut Adjustable" clipper. This is a far superior (and more expensive) unit than the older Wahl Homecut clipper. This new unit is much lighter, much quieter, and much easier to hold with the molded-in "grips". These are all essential ingredients if you cut your own hair. It is also just as powerful, if not more so than the old unit. One main shortcoming is the on/off switch which is a bit flimsy, and far to easy to toggle. The other main drawback is the usage of the three-hole slide/blade system. While it may be super-easy to swap blades, it is very difficult to adjust the gap, and was actually impossible to set a gap of less than 3/32" - which is far too large. So I swapped out the three hole slide for a two hole slide and now the Pilot is perfect. Highly recommended, especially if you convert to the two hole slide mechanism.

Does not cut short
I don't understand what is up with this thing. I opened it up, it seemed super nice, the motor had a really good sound and it seemed powerful. Then I went to trim my neck, as I do a few times a week with a cheap Conair set of clippers, and...nothing. It would not cut the hair on my neck. It just seemed to jagged and rough and did not have even half of the precision of my cheap Conair clippers. So strange. I don't understand why these are configured this way.
