Waterproofing
A really great product which gives very good waterproof protection. Used on brand new walking boots and walking over wet ground kept boots perfectly dry.

Not for designer footwear
Was time to replace my five year old Chameleon walking shoes, so pictures show a brand new pair of Chameleon 8 straight out of the box. I opted for the dark nubuck ones for practicality. I do a lot of dog walking in adverse weather conditions and mucky terrain. I've always found that walking boots and shoes benefit from being proofed or treated prior to use, rather than trying to salvage their looks after a few soakings. The observant amongst you will notice my shoes are goretex so already waterproof. The Nikwax is my way of keeping the Newbuck as clean and stain free as possible while enhancing the overall waterproofing. Before using any Nikwax products, please read the instructions and follow them. Too many people just dive in. With this product you have to wet the leather before application. My images show the shoes new, treated and after drying. The process has darkened the overall colour (as it says on the instructions). Also, as reported by others, the actual applicator has a plastic central part that requires pushing to release the liquid. I was fairly careful with my application of the product but still managed to get some darker lines or scratches from the plastic insert (see final image). None of this is a big deal on a pair of practical walking boots or shoes but on the likes of UGG fashion shoes would probably be an issue. One solution would be to remove the Nikwax protector from its bottle and apply with a soft sponge. It will however still darken anything you put it on and also smoothes the surface texture of Nubuck, which I don't mind really. Hope this is helpful for first time users of this product.

Easy and effective
Very easy to apply. Dried fast. It darkened at first, but after a bit the boots returned to their lighter colour. Water resistance is excellent... but you really have to squeeze it hard into any stitching to work well.

Read the instructions!!
Wasn't sure at first as read other reviews but what I would say [ as other reviews say ] read the instructions and you'll get the results your after. After reading the instructions [ twice ] my new Clarks suede boots are fully waterproofed and looking good after using clear NIKWAXNow keeping mind when you wet Suede it's going to change colour and become darker ..but don't worry; as it naturally drys out it will return to its original colour.Again .... READ the instructions carefully!

Easy to use, Water based too
I bought this item for myself as I've also bought some Combat Boots as they're Suede so I can have them protected from the rain.

great product, dispenser the problem
the only reason, not 5 stars, is the applicator head poor quality already deteriorating after 5 or 6 applications, will be applying with a sponge soon. but don't let that deter your purchase.

Worked briefly
Bought for my wife who is a dog walker and gets her boots filthy and wet this time of year. This was easy to apply and I did so copiously which achieved about 4 days off waterproof walking. After that the waterproofing was no more and the wife had wet feet again.... just for clarity the boots are Karrimor walking boots so not rubbish, the waterproofing just didn't last.
