We bought this for our condo which has a lake outside the door. We were worried this little grandkids would be able to slip outside and we wouldn't know. With just a flip, this little gadget keeps the door from opening more than an inch or two, and keeps the little ones safely inside. Any adult can reach up and close the lock, so it's not a safety inssue when locked in an emergency. We use it all the time...even at night when we are home, just the two of us!

I have an oceanfront vacation rental in Myrtle Beach and my condo had the latch type security bar that hooks to the ball that is on the door.I was having a problem with guests using the arm to that one and keeping the door open which caused high humidity and getting bugs in my condo.So, I was looking for something else that would prevent guests propping the door open.This works like a charm!!VERY easy to install. Took 45 seconds to do.Now, my guests can't leave the door open, lolAs far as security strength, say if someone wants to break in, I have no clue, because we have security onsite and normally don't have this issue.

This latch is well made, simple and practical. Comes in very handy when people come to the door and the dog is losing her mind. (Your hands are free) And don't have to worry about the dog running out the door.

Crime has been up in our neighborhood. Break ins, burglaries, muggings, etc. I ordered these to feel safer, along with some other security items. They are very easy to install with an electric screwdriver. The 3" screws that come with these are hefty and strong. I used 4" steel screws that I already owned to make them even more secure. I added one 1/3 of the way down my door, and the other 2/3 of the way down my door. The two together are super strong. I will be taking them when I move out of my apartment. I can't believe how many years I used that cheap weak little door chain to feel safe. I never felt safe with that thing, but for some reason didn't think to replace it.
