Wonderful Air Purifier
We have two asthmatics in our family, live on a busy New York street, and have a pet. Needless to say, air quality is important to us particularly living in an urban environment. This air cleaner has done wonders for our apartment. We have the 300 in our living room, and the 100 in the bedrooms. Dust levels have gone down, and we've noticed a big difference in allergies and quality of breathing. The units clearly respond when there is a pollutant introduced. They also super quiet for an air purifier (though it is louder when on orange or red), actually providing a nice white noise at night. Great for those living in cities looking to drown out street noise without an annoying, loud sound machine. We keep the unit on auto with the ionizer turned off due to ozone concerns, but take advantage of the special setting for flu/cold season with kids in the house. Highly recommend!

Good Buy
I live in a climate where it's too cold to open windows or otherwise air out the house 9 months out of the year. On top of smelling really stale (and sometimes downright gross), my apartment was also home to a lot of allergens (dust, cat dander, etc.). After seeing this product demonstrated at a local office supply store, I thought it would be worth a try on Prime, since I could return it if I didn't like it. (I bought the 300 version for my kitchen / dining / living area and the 100 version for the smaller rooms.)I will be keeping this air purifier until the sad, sad day far in the future when it dies, and then I'm buying another.I ran it in each room of my apartment for about an hour, and the difference was extremely noticeable. This air purifier doesn't give off that (horrible) tart ionizer smell that some do; it just sucks up all those odors and allergens floating around until you're left with fresh air. I simply can't express how nice it is to breathe fresh air in the winter. The "auto" feature is also really incredible and very sensitive. When I eat dinner next to one of these, the fan kicks up a notch to freshen the air. (Also great for when your S/O passes gas.) Even on high the fan is very quiet and unobtrusive. I really can't say enough good things about these.

very effective
I liked the first one I purchased for my bedroom so much, I bought another for a different part of the house. it very quickly cleans the air, I use it to control cooking and cleaning odors. within minutes they're gone. the biggest thing it does is grab the dust from the air (we have alot of dust in AZ) replacement filters are inexpensive and easy to replace.

So far it has been working great. In the beginning I ran it only at ...
This model was purchased in Nov. 2016[is actually the DX5 model which is the new model for the 100- I had contacted Fellowes to confirm]; as a replacement for another brand, and have been using for a little over 5 months in the bedroom. I have severe allergies and asthma, which is 1 reason I made this choice- being certified by the allergy/asthma foundation. So far it has been working great. In the beginning I ran it only at night, so the filter change indicator came on at about 4 months use. I like the ease/ simplicity to change the filter. I don't use the plasma feature because of reading about ozone concerns, but that feature is easily turned off. The display info. is easy to understand. It is quiet on low to sleep. It notices very quickly when contaminents/ chemicals are present [ the red light goes on].It seems very energy efficient[according to my electric bills. The only negative is that the display is rather bright in a darkened room... maybe something that could be changed by the company.

It seems to work. The color coded sensor did pick up when I farted. LOL.
Pros: Runs fairly quiet for a budget air purifier.Refill filters are cheaper and last longer than the GermGuardian brand when I researched.Has color coded sensor to let you know how bad air is (blue, amber, red).*Detected my bad smelling farts at first . It changed to amber color (red when pretty bad fart) and it cleaned up air and went back to blue color to show it was cleaned up.Cons: Falsely advertised as covering 100-200 sq/ft. on their Amazon listing and business webpage. If you read further down in their webpage description says it purifies air in a 90 sq/ft room.Uncertain of how consistently effective it is. Sometimes it appears to work, sometimes it doesn't.Seems to be finicky when it wants to work. Sometimes when I just simply touch the unit, the sensor turns amber color.Tested with some bad smelling farts near the unit and it didn't change to amber color (like it initially did).Bought one for the bedroom and one for my office. When I first started air purifier it ran in auto mode for the 4 minutes to sense the condition of the air in room. There are 3 sensor colors to gauge how bad the air is in your room (blue, amber, red) and it you can leave it on auto to let it adjust itself or you can manually control it. At first, the sensor color started off blue shortly after the auto mode so I assumed the air quality wasn't bad in the room. Although I noticed several times that whenever I slightly touched the unit to shut it off or shift position, the sensor color would all of a sudden change to the amber color. Thought it was coincidence but happened almost every time I touched it. Maybe it was some slight static that would throw it off? Not sure. Also, put it in a small room in my basement that has a strong mildew and musty odor. It ran on auto for a few hours but didn't seem to change from the blue color. I then touched it to reposition it and all of a sudden it turned red and the HEPA fan speed maxed up. It was like it was in limbo on auto for a few hours until I touched it. It stayed red color for a several minutes as it appeared to be purifying the air. Weird that it was not red from the get-go but only until I touched it. Might to ask Fellowes sorry about that one.But overall seems to operate fine and the air does smell a bit better (even though my sinuses are blocking my sense of smell).I don't know if this was coincidence or my allergy attacks were subsiding when I had this unit running, but my allergy attacks did appear to be basically over.
