Have several of these knives
The Calphalon Katana series of knives are all excellent. The damascus steel blades are as beautiful as they are strong. These sharpen nicely, and I keep one on my cutting board at all times. The handles are very ergonomic and sleek. These are weighted well and nicely balanced, giving you the feeling you are always in control of the blade.

these are some of the best knives i have ever used
i am a professional chef of 30+ years. i find all of the knives in this particular line to be superb. great quality and the feel is perfect for me. when i first saw them in the store i was wondering how a handle that looks like that could be comfortable, but it is, and the balance is spot on too.i wish i had knives like these during the days when i was on the line as a commie and prepping and cooking 12 hours a day.without a doubt, well worth the price.

Poor quality
Rust spots on the first use. Used the knife for cutting vegetables - did not leave the knife wet after using it.

For those that want an everyday knife, this is a great knife. I have had this for 5 years (this one was a gift I bought for someone). It's held up well.Word of advise... DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER !!!!!

Well Crafted Knife!
I am a professional Chef and have been in the restaurant industry for over a decade. Those that know this industry know that a chef's knife is a very important tool, and personally mine is like an extention of my arm!There are three things I look for in a knife: 1) Durability: I've had this knife for over a year and not one knick (trust me it gets plenty of use) it's still as it was out of the package! 2) Versatility: From breaking down cambros of mirepoix or neatly filleting fish. This knife does all that, so there's no need to carry a bulky knife kit. 3) Maintenance: A few quick sweeps of a knife steel and the edge is like new! Wash with soapy water then dry with a towel. *Japanese Steel does oxidize if not washed and dried properly!! Not a knife for the dishwasher!*Also, it has the perfect weight to it and the fact that it looks really cool is just a bonus!

I and my family love this knife for it's size
I and my family love this knife for it's size, design and ergonomics. It takes a razor edge and holds it quite well. I have almost the whole set and am very happy with them.
