Great book by a master of the faith. St. Augustine writes this book (or letter) to the Deacon Deogratias, who is asking for help.St. Augustine writes how to give a homily: (1) Brief Introduction; (2) Historical Background (which includes the major events from Creation to Revelation; (3) Exhortation.He also gives some advice on how to overcome discouragement, which we still experience today. He empathizes with Deacon Deogratias.It's been a while since I read this book, but he may also go into the different senses of scripture.
