Seachem MultiTest Iodine and Iodide Test Kit

Easy multi step test. Takes about 10 minutes to do. Can test accuracy on test water sample they send with kit. Don't dose anything you can't measure. Used distilled water to make required solution. RO water may not work.

the test shows zero (no blue color at all) with aquarium water, test sample that comes with the test, and an actual iodine supplement. it is of cause totally useless. waste of time and money, and it is not cheap. returning it right now.

Not sure what happened to the other person's test but mine worked perfectly. The instructions could be a little clearer though. When it first arrived I wondered if it was working as my water registered Zero Iodide. However, after 6 days consecutive days of Iodide additions to my tank my level is now reading 0.04 mg/L and nearing the recommended level of 0.06 to 0.08. FYI: The Iodide I'm adding is Aquavitro Vibrance made by Seachem. Looking forward to an increased growth rate of my soft corals. :)

The test is a bit complex to do, but alright after getting used to it.As stated, it measures both Iodide(I-, good, a necessary nutrient) and Iodine(I2, bad, a sterilant and poison). After reading more about Iodide/Iodine I realized that measuring both together presents a problem for aquarists. We might want to supplement Iodide with, for example Potassium Iodide, but we should not add Iodine to our aquaria. Because the test measures both it does not give the information we need...

It is very difficult to read the color density of this test. I used the reference which is .05mg/l and my reading could be anywhere between .01 and .03.
